New Year's Resolutions, etc?

Post by MasterWuuf »

Do any of your nations really practice this tradition, as well as any other traditions during the New Year's holidays?

I've never made a New Year's Resolution, yet I've heard many speak of starting the year out with one or more.

We did eat black-eyed peas today, supposedly because it was some kind of tradition.
Me? I added small pieces of pork loin, bacon (er, sorry Adam and Sandie  ), green chili, as well as spices.

We also had cabbage, which is another NY's food guaranteed to benefit you.

Funniest New Year's Resolution I've heard???

A young lady I worked with, made the same NYR for the last two years.
She was going to get me drunk. Alas, she didn't. (I think she had other purposes...after getting me drunk, but that's another story)

P.S. Somehow, I don't believe all the Cadbury chocolates we ate were any traditional food.

People here make a lot of New Year's resolutions - and they never follow any. Personally, I've never tried to make one.

Sounds interesting. Thinking about it now, well... perhaps we should help other people when they make a New Year's resolution, shouldn't we? Especially if "other people" means

Poor Gambit. Talk about lousy resolution. I'm using 1152x864. Better upgrade, perhaps add some video RAM?
(Hee, hee. I could get 1280x1024. Doubt I'd ever go that route, unless someone would loan me a magnifying glass)

Advanced in years? I'm not old. My teeth are fine, my hearing as well...although I do miss my mind occasionally.

I decided to give up snusing (for the third time), so I have been away from it for three and a half day now. And as soon as the worst abstinence is over I am returning to the gym. I am going away on a vaccation soon and are hoping to loose about 10 kg until then :D

My resolution: I want to know why sometimes I am not doing the best I could. I'll search for the roots of it during 2011.

Alright, alright, so I'll make a proper resolution: I'll tidy up my C:\DM\RTC\Modules\ directory. Well... I guess I should clean the whole C:\DM\ directory. Or the whole C:\? Well, on second thoughts, I'll do that next year. :)

@Jan: Enter ms-dos, and type "format c:" and then type "y"... And it will all be over soon...

@oh_brother: Well, I did lose 10 kg. Then I gained 5, and now just before summer I managed to to lose about 7 more kg. But just as everyone knows, I didn't starv myself! I accually ate rather much, I just went to the gym more often and controlled my intake of carbohydrates. I did manage to stop the snusing for 6 months, but now about 1,5 month ago I started to "party-smoke", so now I am back chewing nicotinegums.. I knew I would get back to old habits sometime, I think it is just about controlling how deep one will go back.

Some fact about snus:
Snus is like a substitute for cigarettes, it is tobacco in a small bag that is put under the upper lip. Sounds alittle bit disgusting but spares the lungs from the tobacco. Accually there are almost as many "snusers" as smokers in Sweden (guys as gals). So don't get shocked if you one day to come to Sweden and notice that people walk around with a big upper lip..
