Dungeon-Master.com: The best of...

Post by boyflea »

A recent survey shows that for the past 10-15 years, a lot of people here have regularly contributed, or found, some cool stuff on these forums:

HERE'S THE QUEST:
Can you call out some special posts dear to you, please?

For me, for example:
1. My first review! http://bit.ly/1Url6DM
2. A chance remark that led me to follow OOTS. http://bit.ly/1HaguL5
3. Best-recent post: Dungeon Master as a tabletop game with figures! http://bit.ly/1LSdM1c
4. Last dungeon that stole my heart (and fried my brain and dissolved my time): http://bit.ly/1exBQrQ
5. Just because my music collection tells all! http://bit.ly/1gjbb3h
6. Linking up with the ST Format archive team http://bit.ly/1CVOqr5
7. The spectre of rip-off companies...http://bit.ly/1J0fXJR
8. A big waste of time, and proud of it!: http://bit.ly/1H3fbLW

Please let us know what little gems you found here - not all are Dungeon-Master related, but all helped me come back here.
Lets promote the best on social media: distil the passion from the archives into shiny-little trinkets.

1. Certainly the Swordfighting Arena: http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... 55&t=28258 - my most favourite thread.

2. And then the Quotes of the Week: http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... &start=270 and http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... &start=240

These threads are certainly going to make us very popular... certainly among the staff at various lunatic asylums and departments of mental health.

Wuffy's DnD game, lasted about two years (didn't feel like it, though!) if I remember rightly and was good fun all the way :).

On a general level, lots of the ones mentioned already - 1. DnD games (Beo's was brilliant, Raixel's was shaping up great but ended abruptly), 2. pirate sword fight, 3. Christmas stories

4. General chat thread

And on a more personal level...

5. The first thread I made. Enjoying DM again - something I owe to this forum.

6. The feeling when I beat CSB, after all those years...another thing I owe to this forum!

My mind is blown! :)

So yes, have just spent the last half-hour reading through the Sword-Fighting thread (you crazy two-headed squirrels) :) [surely one to share on pirate day!]
I am just beginning to understand how this forum works now... my mind is just getting around a 3.5 year-long thread.

oh_brother's first post is exactly the thing too... (shared as is inspirational)

and the others? - give me chance, there are some huge threads here to look at... :D
...
I have to come clean: I started doing this to help me say goodbye to these threads, but dammit if I'm not fighting some sort of nostalgia octopus! :D

It's amazing the worlds we create in darkness.

Yeah, I've spent a bit of time looking back at this stuff too. Our little corner of the web has seen some very good times (and a few bad) but we've always been very good at keeping each other entertained. And I must say that the friends I made here have been a bigger part of my life than many of the friends that I see "in the flesh".

Everybody who's ever contributed anything here has proved that they have a wild, creative streak. I think that's what is very special about this place. We may not be as prolific as we once were, but there's still gold in them thar hills even if those hills are in the past. Er, mixed metaphor alert! Dunno what I'm saying really. *sniff, brushes emo tear away*.

Some crazy ideas were also in the "One letter off movies" thread: http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... 70&t=28319

Unfortunately, it was rather short. Shall we continue?

I hadn't noticed the "One letter off movies" thread before.
Very good! Very funny... I just thought of a few and posted them!
