Before You Post

Before you post an editing question, here are some things to keep in mind:

- Have you read the Editing.txt file that comes with RTC? A hurdle beginners sometimes run into is that RTC dungeons must be compiled. Read the file for information on how to use the COMPILE command with RTC.

- Have you looked at the other topics in this forum to see if there is any that matches your question? Posting the same question only wastes space and bandwidth, and yours is likely to go unanswered.

- Did you look through the DM dungeon? Remember that the DM dungeon does contain many examples of mechanics already. CSB is slightly more complicated, and DM2 even more so than that, but with a little creativity, you may find what you want to do.

Editing questions that are simply in the form of "How do I do some vague thing?" are likely to get an equally vague answer, and perhaps not a very polite one, if someone's in a bad mood. You'll do a lot better being specific about what you want to do, and making reference to the techniques that you've tried already, to give people some idea what direction you're going, and what you've already tried.

Of course, if you have absolutely no idea how to achieve the effect you're wanting, you obviously can't be too specific in this regard, but please still try to be specific as to what you want to have happen.

Even better, if you have a small example that you think is near working, you could always post it, with an explanation of what you want to happen and what you think is going wrong. Someone will probably be a lot more willing to look at your problem if you have a partial example. This doesn't mean post your entire dungeon, of course-- it's too big and will spoil the surprise anyhow!

Examples of what you are trying to accomplish will also help us determine if your problem is your fault or a bug in RTC.

Finally, though this may seem obvious, make sure to remember to give your question a clear title. A thread titled something "Editing Question" doesn't tell anyone browsing the forum anything.
