What can I do with an invisible "Switch lever" ?

Post by terkio »

1) When set invisiible, I find no way to operate it.
I tested with a lever targeting a counter. When set visible, no problem it does something to the counter. When set invisible it does nothing.

2) I find no way to change a visible lever to become invisible. ( neither to change an invisible lever to become visible ).
I tested with a lever toggling another lever.

Invisible means it's inactive and has no function.

If you want it to have a function, you need to clone a lever, give it a transparent bitmap (to make it invisible in the game), and use it in the editor as normal.

There have been a few other discussions about how this works in RTC. Search the forums to read more about it.

Thanks, this gives me a road map.
I searched and found a lot on the forums and the wiki, but I can' t figure out:
a) How to clone it.
b) How to give it a bitmap.
c) how to make it available in the editor.

Did you find the contents page for RTC on the Wiki? It's not complete, but most basics should be covered:
http://dmwiki.atomas.com/wiki/RTC

Cloning is often the basis of creating new items in RTC. You clone an item, monster, etc. that's similar to what you want, then edit properties of the clone.
Click on "Resources" menu, then select "Create New Objects" option. You'll see a screen with lots of tabs -- use the tabs to find the item you want to clone, click on it, then click on the Clone button at the bottom right. You'll be asked to give it a new name.

New graphics can be added using the "Resources" -> "Add/Replace Graphics" option. Once you've imported new graphics, you can assign them in the properties of your cloned object.
