I thiought it might be easiest to have the map in a separate thread:

Details: Owing to D&D combat mechanics, everyone's token looks huge. Remmeber each of you is actually occupying @5 feet once things heat up. Therefore, you will actually be packed much tighter to the door than it appears.

Light: There seems to be bgith light on the dias, dim light as indicated, and the third light level is semi-darkness. There is enough ambiant light form residual light spells, etc that it is not total darkness, but certainly you are hidden from view right now.

Hidden foes: Until you roll some perception or other detection, there might be a few hidden things (such as ghosts, enemies, and Falkor) you can't see,

Brown thingies: Are the afforementioned plinths, tables, etc. The round one attached to a pillar close to you is a medusa-faced water fountain, while the square one right in front of you is an odd sunken area of floor, as if a small font or floor poll could be created here.

Cool map :). What are the small black circles attached to four of the pillars around the central area?

If you mean the one to the left of the central star-shaped altar thingy, I presumed that was the Soulstone plinth, currently holding the largest fragment of Soulstone (one is right under Theron's nose somewhere he doesn't know about it, the other two have been combined and are in a pouch on Ameena's belt) :).

Ameena has it right, that what's left of the Soul Stone on its plinth. And from the air, you guys can perhaps spot the unusual shape of the Altar Theron is beside.

The small circles on the pillars are the light sources, their exact nature you won't be able to tell from where you are.

Ok, map updated. The big round circle beside Theron is the area of weirdness Ameena felt going through, and the area Theron seems to be focused on.

Guys (all four of you, Ameena! :P) can let me know if your characters have moved where you though they should be. Not asking dfor an initiative roll....yet....

I see it, Westian will move near Mummy1 in order to turn him. If Haynuus and/or Aurek are nearby they can take a smack at Dolo. And get ready to pour a healing potion down Westian throat when Mummy2 comes and gives me a beating! :)

I like the way you guys just assume the huge glowing suit of armour is the one thing you can turn your back on! Hmm, waiting for Aurek's move, but as the day is flipped for him, perhaps I should just post and allow him to slip his update in after mine so he can react better to everythign that is goign on right now.

Oh dear, looks like the troll king dude has snuffed it...oh well, he was a bit of a twat anyway ;). I hope I've not taken too long messing around to try and figure stuff out and get the cloak to work, though even if I have then I hope that things work out for the better and that Ameena's words (and Falkor's whatever they might have been) to Theron have had the desired effect...

Updated the map again, and you double posted with me Ameena. You mgiht wanna double check what else has happened! And lol, is there anyone NPC wise you wouldn't describe as a bit iof a twat? I'm starting to wish I had more wonderful NPCs! :D

And you already have an effect with Falkor and especially Ameena's words. You have a stalemate where Gholst is temporarily neutralised, and certainly not using Theron's body for murder. I don't think you are quite appreciating how good it is not to have 6 to 9 damage dice spells levelled at your level 8 head :p

I wonder how the others will fare now Dargat is no longer distracted and Garax is no longer gunna act as a buffer... From experience, I think you guys will muddle through somehow with cool ideas! :D

Err, level 7 head, I'll have you know - you said yourself we missed something that would have meant we levelled up a final time ;).

Wow, even more important you don't have a level 9 spell flung at your bonce, then! :D

Can you guess what would have allowed you to get your level 8 goodies?

Umm...taking a different path when we had the choice of three so we ended up fighting either Dolo or the grak-graks? Oh wait, we ended up fighting Dolo anyway when we backtracked and went up the middle path anyway...hmm and I vaguely recall it was before then anyway, that you said we might have dinged. I can't really remember half of what has happened now, lol - so much has happened spread out over such a long time...erm...maybe it was something to do with Soorec...ooh or maaaybe we were supposed to do something with the Crack, when it showed up, and somehow reach into it and withdraw the last of our lost memories, or something - you did originally say, after all (a veerryyyy long time ago) that in the final confrontation of the First Run we were level 8.

Lol, I can neither confirm nor deny that doing anything suicidally dangerous with the crack way before might not have also had some other benefits including level 8 dingage and unlimited spell slots/power useage... of course, you have to ask what the ticking clock or cost to your characters would have been!

Map up!

You might notice I've put the combat grid over it (hopefully in a readable way) and added more initiative counts now we are getting in to more simultaneous and confusing combat stuff :)

I've done something a little different with it, instead of the usual letter/number thing, I've decided to try and draw the grid liek a set of graph axes. So (0,0) is the square just below the altar, Haynuus is on square (3,-3), etc. Let me know if this makes is faster for you to announce positions, of if it's just annoying and confusing.

The number of squares across is not as many as I originally counted, so I could use letters/numbers if you really wanted.

Or we could get rid of the grid overlay if it's not going to be an issue!

Personally I prefer the letter/number thing that you used on previous maps, but for now the exact positions on the map aren't really an issue for me since I think narratively you can tell where I am anyway ;).

You must have some cool map resource kit somewhere or do you create all of this stuff from scratch?!

Never underestimate the power of paintshop pro. Some layers and transparency and it's all good. And if you really look at the pitcture, you'll see it's not as cool as you think. I guess if you add enough detail over the top of itself it's easy to hide some mistakes and simplistic stuff :)

Though The Maptools suite of aids seems to make cool maps with proper backgrounds and figures and LOS, as Ameena could demonstate!

Yeah, you can do all sorts of stuff in MapTools in just a couple of minutes - it's pretty cool for DnD combat maps :). Well, not just DnD, actually - it's designed to be as generic as possible, really, so it has hex-based grids as well as square ones, and there's objects/scenery/tokens available for other genres such as Sci-Fi.
Meanwhile, I quite like the world map I've done in Paintbrush for my DnD game, to which I keep adding or altering minor details - don't worry Wuffy, I'm sure you'll see the whole thing one day ;).

New map up. I've kept Gholst and his assault vague for now. I've added Karnadee to the map as a transparent character by Theron. The second blackskull is in blue to show his starting petrification. I've temporarily removed Petal, Helm and Falkor since no one right now knows where they are (Petal becoming literally invisible, Falkor/Helm you can decide if they are just stealthing or invisible too)

Dargat was in the centreof the group being beaten up, but five foot stepped backwards, and Garax has come down to help. Deephold looks fine and Passin only looks unconscious, however they would well be in entirely different states...someone will eventually have to check them out to confrim, perhaps!

Anything else unclear?

Wow, no one alter their combat initiative placement please, it makes one of the most perfect sinusoids! That's so weird!

Also, you did not see anyhidden positioning of any currently missing party members.... nope...

Map updated, though not too much has changed - at least not in the central part.

Lol, perhaps the only worrying differece is the disappearance of Gholst :D
