Cant see the images because you have the word game in your domain name or web path (classicgaming). I couldnt find them on bloodwych.co.uk that seems to be the same server. Could you alter the links to go through bloodwych.co.uk so I cna see the piccies :)

Love the title screen -- very atmospheric --- BUT --- perhaps you should use images from the game engine rather than something like this. It sets an expectation that the user can build things that look this good which obviously isn't the case.

Once again, I've changed the image links to standard URLs. Don't mean to go on about this madmunky, but you use such large images that it really messes everything up and will be painfully slow for modem users. Can you use links in future, thanks. :-)

Yeah sorry about that will keep to links from now on.

The title screen is only a loading screen.

No problem, MadMunky! Ooh yes Andy, that's something I'd like to know too! It's looking very good and a playable alpha would go down very well right about now! :D :D

Theres a few problems which need to be sorted out first before a release.

1. Wishbone has only just finished doing the players stats how we want them so it works like this

When you use alot of attacking by swords you get more points for strength and dexterity and when you use spells, your points for interlligence or wisdom will slightly increase. When you gain a level, the points you get are divided by all abilites

2. We also have the problem of monster graphics we really need some decent monsters in the game. (Hint Hint.. Cowsmanaut & Gambit)

3. Not really a big problem but theres no levels yet! :) only test dungeons.

4. We need a better GUI for selecting map files / players.

Once this is sorted we should be able to get out a public alpha for people to test.

The spiders look a bit strange (flat and disproportionate), the other graphics have a high quality, although the hand cursor looks a bit small to me.

Sure thing. As usual it's only an impression anyway and since you wanted comments ... ;o) But the rest looks very good - maybe even too good as pointed out above. In the game you will not be able to hold that high standards, or am I wrong?

great title screen :D
i like the arrows for movement in the 091.jpg screen.
for the inventory gfx, the character could be proportional, this is so weird : he looks like someone between sitting and standing & with huge hands..
and yes, mouse pointer is really tiny too.

That's the spider from DM Java isn't it? I'm afraid I simply don't have the time to work on monster graphics -- but I will do those keys you asked for.

I agree with the comment about the body on the inventory. It does look a little strange!

Right ive being trying to work out how we can make the inventory person look better but I dont know how to do it!

This is what i've got so far

The hands, head and neck will all have to be bigger as otherwise you wont be able to see what it is, does this look ok or does anyone have any ideas on how to make it better?

Anyone know where theres a nice picture of a skelleton we could use?

Yes it looks a little strange... but if you say no other way otherwise too small then so be it. Maybe you should leave a little more space between the parts so that it does not look so disproportionate and more like separated parts.

:D :) Sorry, but that new one looks really silly! The head is waaaay too big, and what's with the pointy ears? The legs now look too thin and weedy compared to the rest of it.

There's no reason why these icons have to be different sizes - FTL simply used proportional outlines and that was good enough. I think you're getting too hung up on making it look 'impressive' rather than useful and usable...

Perhaps those new body icons would work if they were all a consistent size? I'm sure it would look fine.

For the body inventory, you could try to arrange your icons like in Nexus :

making monster

Post by SavageMind »

What are you using currently to make the monters? that way I can tell you if I can help you or not.
Cairne-"Did you just kill him?"
Rigel-"Yes."
Cairne-"Why?"
Rigel-"Because he was stupid."
Cairne-"That's not a crime on this planet!"
Rigel-"It's not?"
Cairne-"No!"
Rigel-"Damn, I hate this planet!"

Looks a lot better now! If you ask me, keep it that way. Size is fine, looks much better proportioned and is clearly recognizable.

Much, much better! I'd definitely go with that. It's great that you can take on board everyone's comments -- I know it's sometimes hard to hear things about one's work when it's critical. I hope that my comments don't put you off -- I do try to give suggestions on improvements. Anyway, good job! :)

On the other hand it's also a very good way to ensure positive comments later on when the game is released. It shows maturity to be able to deal with criticism and understand what it is directed upon and that is (in most cases) not on the person him- or herself. So, compliments for finding a good solution now!
