Bloodwych 3D

Post by MadMunky »

Im currently trying to remake Bloodwych in 3D on the PC and just wantted to know if anyone would be willing to help in the graphics department. I want to try and keep it the same a bloodwych but just with slightly updated graphics and nice lighting effects.

At the moment all you can do is walk around a half made map as Im still working on adding all the graphics which are in bloodwych and then will remake the levels.

P.s. As this is in 3D I have to make 3D Object and the Textures i'll try and post some screenshots of whats done so far

Post by MadMunky »

Any idea when your going to have time to finish your Dungeon Master graphics set you where doing as I might use bits out of there?

Also dont suppose you want to have a quick go at updating some of the graphics for bloodwych to give me some ideas?

I almost never have free time anymore. I'm always working on one thing or annother. When I do get a bit of free time I read, or paint. However, I've been finding the painting of actual paintings rather than the painting of DM objects more rewarding as DM is a lot of the same and none of it is really my own. Know what I mean. heres 20 keyholes and here are the previous designs. Go to it.. :P

I will get around to them though.. I know people are waiting patiently for them. Perhaps I'll do a few more soon. I had someone helping me remember what I still needed to do however, I stoped doing it after a massive workload was dumped in my lap and never got back around to it.

As for redoing the graphics for Bloodwych.. I'm not sure I would be into that personally. It's got it's appeal but I know how I am and I think that while I might get a few images done I doubt I would get a lot done. Not enough time or interest.

Thanks that grate, Do you normally uses textures and work round them or do you make it all from ypur head?

Do you think If I posted a picture of a person from bloodwych you could take a quick go at that, I dont except any peace of art but a guide of what to do with them would be grate.

I sometimes use some photorefs.. sometimes I go just straight for painting it and using some of the filters.

as for having a go at a character.. I could try.. only way to know is post the image.

What would be grate if you could is as bloodwych all the characters have the same outline but colour differently, If you could try make a nice outline and save that before you start with the colouring.

But it doesn't look like Bloodwych anymore! I think improved hires versions of the original graphics would be better than completely changing them.

Hopefully I'll have one level of bloodwych done by the end of the day, then i'll start work on the missing Dungeon Objects i.e. Banners and Shelfs.

Onces the games working I'll try and make 4 options.

1. Original Graphics
2. Hi Res Graphics
3. Enhanced Graphics
4. Custom Graphics

Kind of fake things to come

This is a screenshot of my games I've added a secound player but the backgound is just a image as i was just playing around so what do people think of a 2 player option like this? Should I keep one bigger view and do 2 player over a network and not split screen?

Anyways this was just a idea so let me know what you think

Update

Post by MadMunky »

Just thought Id upload a update, I've included 3 version in this time

Bloodwych3D = The Original Game with 5 levels loaded at once.
Enhanced = Only one level loaded with enhanced graphics
Test = Bloodwych3D but this time its only loading one level

Please can people report back there Video Memory and Avarage FPS's

Theres still LOADS of graphics bugs, Player also cant walk up stairs, which would work but I've hit into a problem with the orginal map data as the stairs to no lead up the same offset on the level above/below which means I might be only able to draw one level at a time and have to switch level as the player walks up the stairs.

This is more of a debug release so I can just work out how much faster/slow i need to make it and off cause people can tell me what they think of it so far :)

Thanks

Hi Munky! Yes, I just had a quick play of the demos. It's looking good, you should definitely keep on developing it. Here's a few comments based on a few minutes of playing:

1) Movement is too fast, needs to slow down a lot to feel like you're walking about. Mouse movement is also too quick.

2) I found forward and back (W and S), but what about left and right and other movements?

3) When wooden doors are opened, you can walk through the whole thing; the side panels should remain solid.

Greetings... just played around with ya demo, and I'm very impressed. Bloodwych is one of my favourite games of all time, so I'm well excited about the whole thing :D

I'd definitely like to see the original graphics and levels, and split screen 2 player would be very cool as well. But then so would network... hmmmmmm... well... keep up the great work, anyway.

Yes it is! Wow. Thought I'd ask just on the off chance, in case the files were still lurking on someone's hard disk somewhere.
