I've not watched any of the new series -- is it as bad as I've heard?

Bad? By no means - infact Hide was phenominal in all ways. Certainly watch it if you want to know whether to get back in to the new series.

OK, I've now watched the Christmas Special from last year (silly, though great to see R.E.G.) and the first two episodes of the series (#1 OK if silly, #2 Better).

Still not quite sure what to make of it all; I think I've just got to that age where investing time in what are essentially kids programmes is no longer a viable use of my time, especially when I have so many other things I want to be doing.

I'll watch episodes 3 and 4 to see if anything sparks my interest further. If not, I suspect that is me fully done with Doctor Who.
