Thanks RAF68 :O)

Also, I will be looking in the near future at multiplayer. I have an interest in networked games so want to see how hard it is to run a client/server arrangement (due to the physics) for a game. I have written plenty of network stuff at work but never for a game, we will see .....

nice stuff as always. The floating objects are bouncing a bit fast. Might want to see if you can slow it a bit, other than that it's cool to see yet another new element introduced :D

DSE needs artists urgently - as you can see in the videos, the engine works pretty fine, but who can create those zillions of datas for it?

Specifically what kinds of personnel? I assume 3D modellers and animators - 2D concept artists can't necessarily do the 3D work. Are there current plans for which types of creatures that are needed? Does this engine have compatibility with any specific model type? How about sound and music personnel? Hopefully DSE can provide a breakdown of goals and percentage completed, etc... Cheers!

Bit of a surprise these posts .... thanks for the interest.

The bottom line is I need 3d creature artists. More or less any format should be ok as I use PolyTrans with Max 8. I would prefer skinned biped (or similar) animated creatures in the native 3ds max 8 format but I can work with alot of file formats.

As for the types of creatures .... I have recently been looking through the D&D monster manual and there are a lot of awesome designs in there. I am open to suggestion. I would personally like to see trolls, orcs, centaurs, eye of the beholder, harpies, etc.

I was just getting back into coding the engine when my house was burgled so every thing is on hold again ...... bloody life !

However, if any creature artists are out there then please get in touch. I can supply a template for the creatures and so on.

As I told in other posts I'm no way an artist, but I can help with ideas for game mechanics, background, level design support, and the like

I can make some suggestions for creatures.
spoilers beware of spoilers !

However,these are not 3d. I am afraid
As of yet I could model the creatures very roughly in 3dsmax. Probably not to the extent that the mesh would work when you start to move parts.
I really did not get into zbrush for detail work.
Apparently bones are used for movement of all the parts. I have not looked into bones at all. But eventually it should be doable.

I am a bloddy beginner, Maybe you can nevertheless send me your template, DSE.
I could try and improve on that in my freetime. I would really love to see some creatures come to life.

I have a student version of 3dsmax, so I would have to purchase the full version to make sellable game assets.

Here are the links:
Spoiler
I also have many other suggestions , but not really fit for showing them around.yet
Spoiler
These are only text!
Spoiler
Draco lich; skeletal dragon has poison vapours sipping out of head and body, greenish colour. Eyes are Gems, maybe one gem missing,
mimic(chest); discworld hommage many tiny feet and big lid mouth, slit-like eyes,
mummy_awkward & stiff moving, attacking with claw attack
female golem variant(there was once a robot-film in the 80ties, where a jealous female household robot got mad..sth like this)
Constructs
goblin critters; not too sure yet
only text

I like those. Can I strongly recommend that you take a look at Sculptris. Its fooooking amazing and free. I will post up a zombie I have created in it tonight so you can see what a complete non-artist can do.

Send me a pm and I will forward my floor quad for you to build on.

horrible! I've had things taken from my storage before, keepsakes and old drawings, baby items from my first days in the world, nothing of value to anyone but me.. I'd have to say the senslessness of it was somewhat soul crushing, especially knowing that the drug addicts that took it would have thrown it all in the trash because there wouldn't be anything they could sell.. even now years after it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth :(

Anyway, I hope they didn't get too much and that they get caught soon.. a friend of mine caught the guy who broke into her garage.. he was seen riding her bike through town and she chased him down with her car!!

I look at the video games I thought it was fantastic, and the last game of the new date of 30th January 2010 I often went to go see the site of www.entombed.co.uk hoping to see a new set days nothing since then I think that the project was completely dead and I'm glad to know that back to life :)

Hi,

Perhaps you can setup accounts on some of the 3DS forums and post an advertisement looking for artists, modellers, animators, and rigging artists, to contribute creatures for an indie game project and link to images and videos of Entombed.

Here are some examples, although I am sure there are more:

http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/
http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk ... /modeling/
http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk ... animation/
http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk ... x/rigging/
http://www.max-realms.com/modules/newbb/
http://forums.tutorialized.com/3ds-max-71/
http://forums.creativecow.net/discreet3dsmax
http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=6
http://www.maxforums.org/

This guy has several creatures that appear to be downloadable and rigged - perhaps you can contact them to see if they will give permission for use in the game, and/or if they have other work in process:

Here is a site with free 3DS models, including a number of potential creatures. You will probably have to find someone to rig and animate them, and determine the terms of use, but some are quite good if the images are not fake:

Crash thanks for all the posts. Unfortunately they arent worth anything unless an artist can work with those assets and prepare them for my engine. As I am sure you are aware developing models for rendering and models for games are slightly different.

I have contacted an artist today to see if his offer is still open. Fingers crossed.

I was thinking that having some of the models, texturing, rigging, and animation might save some work, even if an animator became involved to do the preparations for your game. Obviously I don't know anything about your game engine, but I had hoped they translation of models from renderer to in game use had evolved somewhat since I read about programs like Maya being used for game asset development several years ago. In any case, I hope that you are able to make some contacts on those forums and find some volunteers eager to see their work in a soon to be great game.

Cheers
