@Bit: I'm suppriced that you recommend VC2010. Shouldn't you recommend VC2006 so that you can try it out on win 98 ;)

I really don't know what to do with my old computer and the notebook is restricted in some ways too (resolution and shaders as you know). But that wouldn't stop me to point to the newest development stuff if I get any informations. One day I'll catch up too ;)

@Bit: Um... not sure what that link was pointing at, but it no longer works :(

@Rasmus: Thanx for the info on "alloc/free" "new/delete" when it comes to Windoze 7 :P That was actually quite helpful in my progress converting my clone over to C++.

That was a time limited download-page for the visual-c++-enterprise-edition, but - pre-release version. Visual C++ Express is available free and full functionally and enough for all that we need here.

Me too - that one is pretty okay - except that it may hang up if you use the find-function often, so save before. And split your files so that they don't exceed 65536 lines, behind that it will work, but not debug. Though, I miss the old macro-function - have to use notepad++ then, that's fine with this.
And don't laugh, my DM2-emu-file has this size, even twice, because I also often process this file and need it in one piece.

Just a bit of news for you guys (and gals).... I've been working on my C++ version of my clone.
It's been hard going, and a very long road. I was using Blitzmax, and it has support for all sorts of models and textures... I have had to build this support system for the engine myself. I've had progress followed by "Oh crap! I botched it! Back to the drawing board." as I said, a loooong road. However, I should be able to release a new version sometime soon.

I just thought I'd inform all of you about my progress thus far.

Hi peoples! I've been working on this here and there, but the real world has been stopping me most of the time :(

However, I've gotten sick of calling it my "Dungeon-Master Clone"... so, I'm coming here for ideas on a name. Feel free to suggest something. If it's good, I'll consider it (so please, no jokes).

Thanks.

@Linflas: I don't mind the sound of "Dungeon of Chaos", or "Chaos' Dungeon".

@Ian: LOL. If it were still done in Blitzmax, then that might apply.

"I can't believe it's not Dungeon Master"?
"Return to C++"?
Lord_BoNes wrote:so please, no jokes
Oh, sorry... :(

But on a more serious note I suppose it depends what you want to get across. Something like "Master of Chaos" would fit in with the others and make it clear what kind of game it was, but on the downside would not really stand out.

If your engine is an improvement maybe you should try to get that across in the title. Something like "Advanced Dungeon Master" (not that, that is awful, but something like that).

Howdy Peoples!!! Just a minor update...

I've decided to settle on the title, "Enter the Underworld" or "Underworld" for short. What do we all think?

I think Underworld is *so* overused as a title, it's everywhere. Up to you though ;-)

I know. But I sat here thinking about it for quite a while, and my less imaginative side could only come up with this :(
At least the name suits the game though :P

Well, I don't want to be too negative, but it does sound a little bit dull to me, Lord. I'd use more "sexy" or "action" words like "revenge", "secret", "unmasked" and so on.

Any suggestions? Like I said before, I just sorta sat there looking stupid for a bit, and then THAT came to me...
I'm still well and truly open to suggestions (especially seen as I've had 2 negative bits of feedback so far, 0 positive)

I totally suck when it comes to naming stuff :(
When it comes to figuring out how to make my code run faster, or sorting out some formula in there, then I'm right into it!

Give me some better options. I'll bet that if you guys (or gals) start chucking (serious) ideas at me, then something will spark me off.

Yeah, at work and just rushing off, so I'm afraid my brain isn't in gear for anything! Think about it later on. :)

Some play on Sub-terranean? Meh, I'll come back to it after work.

The fun thing is that after the initial period of shininess, any name is just a name anyway! Even less important if it's got initials :p

OK, so let's start with "cool" initials and fill them with more or less random content. For example:

C++ Heavily Addictive Outstanding System, or "Chaos"?

Marvellous and Astonishing System for Truly Entertaining RPGs, or "Master"?

Well, what's the scenario about? If there's no scenario, and it's just an engine, you'd want something a bit more "engine-y", like "Chaos Forge" or whatever?

If you're building a whole game with a backstory, then obv. you need a name. If it's set in an underworld, fair enough -- how about Netherworld? "Plunder the Netherworld" might be fun ;-)

@Jan: I couldn't help but laugh when I read that :P

@Gambit: I must say that I like the sound of "Chaos Forge". That's one for the short-list.
