[RTC] Dungeon Survival

Post by Zed5Duke »

Download this dungeon from this Shared OneDrive (in the 'Custom Dungeons' folder)

New version 1.1 (the same dungeon with new interface, include bitmaps to use in custom dungeons)

Image

Info:

In some item info "Crafting 1x or 2x" mean that item can be used to create something different, and its amount of projects where it can be used.

To make new item hold in both hands two components, click option and see what happend its bit a puzzle to figure out what items must be connected.

Shield can be weared on neck, its like hold shield on back, it give free hands for torch and weapon.

Dungeon is limited to DM1 graphic because custom gfx slow my project, saved time I invest in more puzzles and replayability.

Its solo game with replayability 4x each character have advantages and drawbacks, and choose them trigger many events changing dungeon for example one person will see tiny button on wall and to other it will be unvisible. Warrior will meet more enemies and mage more puzzles.

Four champions are:

Savage (warrior, path of bravery, major atribute: strenght)
+may use best armors and good weapons (and upgrade them)
+dont need to solve many puzzles, progress by force and luck
+may craft largest amount of items (repair, upgrade, change)
-meet more enemies on his path
-cant use any magic or read runes

Thief (ninja, path of cat, major atribute: dexterity)
+can open each lock without key
+he can climb up/down without rope
+may find more equipment (and range weapons)
+may use all sort of japan-oriented items of ninja
-meet more enemies on his path
-cant use any magic or read runes

Beggar (wizard, path of chaos, major atribute: vitality, resistances)
+can learn less spells but with more power and offensive
+may learn fire and later dark magic (negative spells)
+may find secret treasures and later join person to party
+after leveling gain more skills, begin with 6th-sense
-must solve largest amount of puzzles
-he is weak and superstition, phobia

Poet (priest, path of knowledge, major atribute: wisdom)
+is able to read ancient runes and learn largest amount of spells
+may learn earth, water, air and later white magic (positive spells)
+after leveling (in ninja) gain new skill, begin with war cry
-must solve many puzzles
-lack of good weapons, offense magic later than wizard

Yes am already do it all in DM1 gfx, mostly to save time because custom gfx slow my projects extremly and during my previously Ravenhood found that RTC have problems to compile dungeon when add lot of new stuff. Anyway am also nostalgia to this old style, so its many reasons to return to it.

Do it in DSB! :) It's far superior to RTC in nearly every way... RTC simply doesn't offer real flexibility, because you can't change anything *fundamental* about the game: all magic missile spells are fixed and unchangeable, all monsters have predictable and boring AI, magic interface is the same, experience and character progression is the DM model and can't really be influenced in a meaningful way, etc. etc. DSB really is the better choice for the plans you outlined above as you can change all this stuff...

Can it all be done through a GUI?

Well, no. And that's why I resisted it for so long. But I can now see that while that Is a bit of a barrier for entry, ultimately it's not a good reason to ignore the superior engine.

Let's not get in to which engine is a better engine, please! :( We love all our childred equally, they all have their quirks and charms and reasons to be cool, especailly given RTC has produced such wonders as Tower fo Champions and Upside Down (and recall Sophia's own amazing efforts in terms of mechanics twisting in Surgical Strike, and Zed's innovative turns with puzzles and game feels in his dungeons). And of course Conflux still remains an insane triumph with only some psudo scripting and no high res graphics in sight!

I'm merely pointing out to Zed that a lot of what he wants to do would actually be much better done in DSB. Best tool for the job and all that. Paul asked a question, which I then answered.

To many though, a lack of full GUI will be a barrier, it does put people off. Maybe if I had more time I would learn it, but I like the results with RTC, and ToC is simply the best dungeon I have ever seen.

That said, if anyone can recommend me a DSB dungeon - I only downloaded DSB today!

Um, yeah, that's a problem. There aren't any yet.... :-( Anyway, we're taking this really off topic, post in the DSB forum to talk about that. Sorry for hijacking your thread, Zed!

@lord soth 75 : why not trying already released custom dungeons instead of waiting for this one ? http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... 31&t=23916

Because im not sure if they are compatible with the latest version of RTC.
I dont want to download something only to discover it doesn't work properly.

@ Jan
Spoiler
I escaped the alcove room by falling down a pit

I have started off as the beggar but in the first room I can't go down the pit without getting killed. I have nothing to make myself strong, no rope so basically I am stuck.

Zed.

Is there any torches??
I made it to the stairs down to level 2.....Found some mushrooms (which poisoned me)
Im armed with a knife, which has no attack feature..im surrounded by mummies, trying to find my way around in total darkness.Iv got about 4 Hit Points remaining.
Kicked a wooden door down, and the room beyond was full of pain rats!!

i need a weapon urgently...and i need Light

Edit

How do i craft items?
The only weapon i have is a knife, and if i try to use it nothing happens.
I found a shield, and if i put it in right hand, its attack option is 'repair'
How do i repair it?
I have NOTHING to fight the monsters with
My character is dying of hunger and poisoning.
And,iv just found a new area with skeletons and beholders..But i cant see anything, because i have no light.
There is nothing i can do other than run away and hope i find food. But i cant even see where im running away to

@RAF : c'est exactement ce que je dis, utilise mieux les traducteurs, bon sang !
@lord soth 75 : you're right, but many custom dungeons work with last RTC version and there are also custom dungeons for other engines that will work without any doubt.

Zed could you answer my question above please which I will repeat here.

I have started off as the beggar and I am in the room with the pit. Every time I enter the pit I am killed. I have the 3 emeralds but can't work out how to use them. Help please.

Magic gems give bonus to stats, they must be hold in left hand (its secret treasure very usefull for this character)
And second answer is crafting, hold two components in hands and connect together by option in one of them (check again everything you found in room)

Iv managed to get my dagger working properly by
Spoiler
sharpening it on a boulder
I thought about trying to make a makeshift torch out of needle bone and stink rags...but no luck.
I cant see anything....Its far too dark.

Im liking this dungeon so far....I just wish i could see where i was going.
