Ouch! I am playing your dungeon, I thought I would finally post to let you know that people are playing. Currently I just got to the riddle room and need to spend some time trying to figure these out. I have beaten the
Spoiler
invisible maze level, with all the Deth Knights
. I have thought about playing the
Spoiler
fake level, but after getting to the area where the materializers were inside the invisible walls I gave up, I will probably need to grab some vorpal blades for this area
... I have gotten
Spoiler
3 RA keys
, I imagine that there are
Spoiler
3 more for the levels I have not completed yet
. The game has gotten pretty hard and I don't think that my guys are strong enough for things now.

Things that I have been wondering about:
I never got the rune used for making stamina potions, which probably was like the first one? It has really been throwing my game off cause I run around a lot and have been oversleeping and running out of food...
I forget where I saw the
Spoiler
RA doors at
, I need to go back and find them. Do I need
Spoiler
6 RA keys
there, cause I will just wait to find it if I do.
I have probably missed abour 10 gray keys, I cannot see them at all. In large areas, like the loop level, I just go around clicking and hoping that I find them. That is one of my biggest criticisms. When I was working on the
Spoiler
Chaos level, I had all the sapphire keys, knew I needed a gray key (Square I think) to solve a puzzle
, I just couldn't find it and I probably wasted a lot of effort at this point.
I have
Spoiler
3 extra GOR coins, I figure that was so that you didn't need to solve all of the puzzles to proceede
?
Does this dungeon need to be mapped in order to solve some puzzles? In the changing
Spoiler
maze level, with all of the demon guys, I feel that it would really help out there but I don't really know
... Terkio said that he mapped and that it was really helpful, but I don't really have the patience for that sort of thing.
The move quick level, I figured out that
Spoiler
the holes didn't open in certain areas by accident, then went back to the beginning and figured it all out
. That was a pretty awesome level design, but really frustrating until I had figured it out...

I am sure that I will post again when I need help, probably with the riddles... I don't use sound when I play, but do the riddles make a noise if you answer them correctly?

I like the dungeon so far.

Is there a RA key on the Chaos level? Because I can't find any - I'd bet it's somewhere in the central chaos room with teleporters and pits but I can't find it. From the important-looking-keys I only found one Cross key on this level. :|

Jan, I sent you a PM.

I do not want to spoil this game on the forum, IMHO the spoiler tags are
Spoiler
just a gimmick

I find that spoiler tags are very useful, that way when people play the game in a year there are some hints out there for them. People come and go on this forum over time and having the hints available when they are needed is probably good for people.

An update, I am pretty sure I have solve some riddles and no clicky sound was made so I am really not sure on the others... I beat the
Spoiler
fake level, vorpal blades were definately needed.
I went back to get my
Spoiler
chest armor on the chaos level and found a hardcleave, that was a lot of effort for a weapon
.

Indeed - after all, this is why we have the spoiler tags here, isn't it?

Thanks to Terkio - again! :D

Alright, I got a lot done today. Once I figured out where I should be going in the
Spoiler
change maze area it was pretty easy to get there. I used the find monster spell for my magic map to figure out new areas to explore, which got me there eventually
. So then I went up to the
Spoiler
teleport maze level and pointlessly ran around, some sort of mapping is definatly needed for this part. Pulled out some graph paper and the first part was pretty easy. The second part was confusing with things appearing/disappearing and no hazes, but with graph paper that part wasn't too hard either
.

At this point I figured that I had all the
Spoiler
RA keys, but I guess I am still missing 2... I got 1 for doing the monster pressure pad thing, 1 in the move quick area, 1 in the fake maze area, 1 in the invisible maze area, 1 in the change maze area, and 1 in the tele maze area. I figure that means I need to get one on the loop level, there is probably a door I havn't opened up yet or that damn giggler that either has my teo wand or maybe a RA key. The other one could be in the chaos level, maybe I need to find the 4th cross key to get it? But I am really bad at finding the gray keys. There was one in the chaotic room, one in the door room, one in the doors that the cross keys open up
.

Pretty sure that I have some of the riddles right, but don't know how to tell that. I guess I will know when I get them all right.

I found a
Spoiler
silver coin on the floor in the chaos level, I hope that I don't need those for anything cause I will never find any more of them. Is there a way for the map to show you items on the floor?

Yeah, a RA key is there, and yes, you do need to open the cross key doors to get it. But, IIRC, you don't need a key to open the last door. Look around carefully.
Spoiler
There's a tiny switch on the frame of one of the doors
. (I hope I recall that correctly)

I found that one too - I used it in the slot in the
Spoiler
"base" area (the room behind the Master Key door on the "Time switches" floor)
.

Spoiler tags are a core feature of the custom dungeon forum and work exceptionally well. They are also used on millions of forums around the world and are an expected feature. They're certainly not a gimmick, they're a practical solution to a common problem.

That is very discouraging, I did get the feeling the
Spoiler
prizes for the silver coins would get better with the more I found, I already had like 8 waterskins
... I was just hoping that this was not an essential part of the game.

Edit: Thanks Jan, that got me another
Spoiler
RA key
. I went down and opened all of the doors on the
Spoiler
loop level, after finding the solid key hiding in a corner
. Got me all of those
Spoiler
RA keys and found the control room and the firestaff. Interistingly I havn't found anywhere to complete it and can only guess that with all the silver coins I will get that
... Either that or I need to figure out how to get about a
Spoiler
bazillion ant men on pressure pads, which sounds easier than finding silver coins so I guess I will try that one first
.

Hi everybody,

Just a few words to tell I played Dungeon Matters these days and eventually defeated Lord Chaos. Well, I must admit that I needed some help for some tricky parts (one Ra Key was really difficult to find, same thing for cross-keys part at Chaos level and silver coins ; a general topic seems to be “grey” items which are really difficult to spot in RTC) but, as a whole, I think the game is well balanced : as many of you said, the first levels are not too difficult, contrary to the last ones, which seems logical.

There is a large variety of different challenges, riddles, fight situations, … and old things have been well renewed, which makes an original game. It’s also interesting to notice that, in many fight situations, the strategy is essential (I died several times before using the right strategy at different levels). And also that, most of the time (not every time !), it’s not necessary to draw map in order to succeed walking through the levels and to know what has to be done, which I appreciate (because it’s not what I prefer ;).

I already played a few custom dungeons and Dungeon Matters is obviously one of the top ranking. So many thanks to Ouch! for the great game.

What is the riddle "Only part of the chorus I can sing" mean? Does it open up something? I have a key but it does not fit to open the portcullis. What's the answer?

Where is it ? I do not recall this message.
Many messages in this game are meaningless. I doubt it helps opening something.

Hi there,

you can reach both Cross Keys using two different teleporters. You need Topaz and Sapphire Keys to activate / reach those teleporters.

I'm going crazy... someone made mention of a Vorpal Blade attainable before the CAVE level. Without pinpointing exactly where it is can someone offer me a general direction of where it is? Thought I'd covered every step possible and bashed every wall with the mouse but evidently not!

EDIT: That truly is proper embarrassing, that. But I digress, it was the ghosts! The ghosts never let me past the stairs, so I didn't check it out. That's my story...

Stuck on the pit room CANYON. Done everything I can see that needed doing but can't get the chest, can't figure out how to go up a level just to climb down again to get the chest, all the bloody stairs are going down! Also the door in the corner... it's opened by Zo but can't get to it. The ruby door is open but the pit remains because I'm guessing the cross key is in the chest?

Well that was fun. I finished the COLOSSEUM, went upstairs to find
Spoiler
2 ghosts in my face
. No worries, I'll switch the

Vorpal Blade
from left hand to right hand and take care of these pests. Oh... either the
Spoiler
Vorpal Blade
was doing a great impression of a
Spoiler
pile of rust
or Stamm's been playing with old metal again. So there we go like a bunch of pansies
Spoiler
blowing our horn
through the graveyard being

zapped back to the starting point
with a

slew of ghosts flying around maniacally covering their ears
. Ah, a
Spoiler
Yew Staff
, I'm saved!
Spoiler
*zap flame*...*zap ghosts*...*zap more flames*...*zap floating black thingy*
.... owning these gangstas. I step on an
Spoiler
empty flame hole
, then forward once more to
Spoiler
hear a click
. Turn around...
Spoiler
*z... no zap*
, ah,
Spoiler
Yew Staff knackered
. I'm doomed! Stuck in a room with
Spoiler
a flame
, oh and
Spoiler
a water puddle
, great. Double doomed! Decide to
Spoiler
read a random scroll on the floor
while I'm
Spoiler
drowning
... ah,

, I'm saved!

You've put a lot of time into this ouch! and it's paying off, really enjoying it.
