Just for fun..... Helloween!

Post by Saumun »

Months and months ago, i stumbled across a strange bug in RTC. Terkio remarked that a small Halloween dungeon based around it might be nice.
So i did... and then soon forgot about it. Come Halloween, i still failed to remember. It was only when looking through some old threads that i recalled it.

So just for fun, i uploaded it (even though it isn't Halloween). A few regular aspects of DM are lost because of the bug, and it is little more than a silly little dialogue between a small group of characters. Takes about 20 mins to run through it.

Cool.
I forgot the details about that RTC bug, so it looks new to me. I do not know the end of helloween...yet.

It was here: http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... =6&t=29976

The dungeon was just a little play around with the bug, and a bit of fun dialogue between a few characters.
My original aim was to make it more interactive, but the bug places a few limitations on what you can do.

Tried to download this before, just sits there and asks to be repaired. Won't do that, don't trust it. Can you send it in a different way Saumun?
Terkio, still having an interest in RTC, I know it's junk but it's interesting though. Keep poking at it, curious to see what weird bugs you can find, might actually help somebody out.

I've sent it to you via email CS.

The Master.... You should only be unable to move while the conversation is happening. Could you PM me and tell me exactly what is happening?

Saumun, thanks for the fun.
The red tape bit is so scary, I nearly dropped alive.

Saumun

Now sorted. It just seems that you get a temporary lockup in that corridor for some reason. Anyway now finished the game. Very interesting concept that could be used in a full scale game.

Very interesting bug, could be used for sure but in what way. It reminds of of the swap none to object bug. A holder can be used for monsters as well as party.

The Master; This lock up is another waste of time when stuck in red tape. Ever wandered in the corridors and lairs of buraucracy ? Signed: Tuttle, oh wait.... Buttle ?

Indeed... The lock on party movement in the corridor is deliberate.

I think this bug could used in exactly the same way as you have used it here. A dungeon with loads of puzzles but no battles, well none where you get killed anyway. You could have it where you become mortal for a while and then dead for a while. I'm sure if the concept worked for this small dungeon then it could be extended.

It certainly could, but it depends on how complex you want the mechanics to be. There are certain things that cannot be done... but with the right planning, a decent full size dungeon could be achieved.
The only way that the living dead party can be made is through a pit (as far as i can tell), but changing the bitmaps could replicate this so that it appears as if you have not fell through one.

Right, I played this one. Beautiful little dungeon, Saumun, well done, great idea, loads of fun, excellent! :P

When I got to the Giggler corridor, I thought, "damn, this is going to be either Yes (Prime) Minister or Monty Pythons" - and I was right! :P
Finally playing and immensely enjoying the awesome Thimbleweed Park-a-reno!

Cheers Jan... Just wanted to see what i could do with that strange 'living dead' bug and have a little fun with it.

Nice to see you noticed the nods to python. I think you're the first to mention it.
When i was doing the Giggler part, i thought "Damn... this is perfect for me to rip off the Argument Clinic sketch".
Also, the dragon that uses sarcasm instead of violence is a nod to python's Piranha Brothers sketch.
