[Custom dungeon] The Black Flame [DM PC, CSBWin] [Paul D. Hayes (a.k.a PaulH)]

Post by PaulH »

Platform: DM PC, CSBWin
Author: Paul D. Hayes (a.k.a PaulH)
Email address: supersonic525@aol.com
Date published: 2003, March 28
Date last updated: 2005, May 25

Story:
A black flame threatens to engulf the land, can YOU stop the inferno?
(I will expand this in time)

Notes:
Its fairly straightforward dungeon, with some new graphics and a new ending.
Med/large in length and for the adept player. Please read the 'readme'.

A new dungeon with a new ending.
Well, I had a couple of hours free one afternoon so I'd thought I'd make a quick dungeon... My goal was to create a new ending that doesn't involve killing Chaos. You can still fuse him, but that is not the object and you'll miss the new bit. Actually it isn't all that good, but hey, it's original.
Thanks to George Gilbert and Beowuuf for Dmute and the guide.

Download:
Download this dungeon from this Shared OneDrive (in the 'Custom Dungeons' folder)

"straightforward" you say.
Hum. Hum.....
Paul, I already fear your twisted humor.

I'm on it immediately !
Thanks !

Hello, ^^

Hmmm... Arf! You can't say you dislike my scroll... ;)

Well, here is a short story of this graphic :
- the first version is the one I prefer, but it is not usable with DM... When I drew it, I (stupidly?) thought that the letters were drawn using a transparent background color, but in fact each letter is written in a white rectangle... (in my archives, this version is called "0023-Parchemin-PAS BON.bmp", which means "0023-Scroll-NOT GOOD.bmp"... it's always hard to rename something like that!).
- the second version is not very good... Zyx saw this one and asked me if I could change some little things... (I hope he didn't keep a picture of this version) ^^
- the third version is the one you seem to like. It is, in fact, based on the first version I drew (!) :).

I just wanted to thank you for using this graphic. It represents many hours of work (!) ;)

I forgot to thank you Charlatan! Is a very nice graphic, and I also borrowed a couple more of yours too.

If have any spare wall sets hanging about, I'll gladly have them!

Also Trantor found a CSBWin error when you descend a pit into a wall (planned). It crashes the game, so a later version of CSBWin will rectify this. CSBwin98v53PAF1 seems to work fine.

May I add this to my 'Games' directory? And how should it
be signed?

Yep, no problems, all details of the dungeon are within the readme file it comes with.

OK. I posted it with CSBwin version 9.8v53.
Somewhere you said that 9.8v53PAF1 was ok but I
worried about that because it was the very first
attempt at Party Attack Filter (PAF1). Perhaps someone
could play with it for a half-hour to see if it seems
reasonable.

I played it about two weeks ago with whatever was released at the time and nothing went buggy. I will be playing it again soon with the current engine (I always update) so can tell you if anything goes wrong

I look forward to playing the updated version of The black flame, the first was well made, there was actually a food/water situation which was really oppressive, until i bumped into some regenerating worms. Very hard, but still entertaining.
