Dungeons

Post by beowuuf »

Two things

1) I just wandered who is still working on dungeons

2)I wandered if anyone who has worked on one then abandoned the concept, or just doesn't have time, might uupload it anyway like zyx did with his conflux. It's just interesting to see all the ideas that mmight not otherwise see the light of day.
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

I am working on the team one. I have abandoned a few but none of interest - mainly just the maps of the levels with no objects, monsters, puzzles and that.
Ian

I started one ages ago, but it's only very small and doesn't have anything especially interesting in it - it was designed way before you did all that wonderful extra research into the depths of the dat format....

You can have it if you like, but it's pretty boring.... Let me know.

Yeah, just after all the time that people have mentioned having dungeons dungeons (there still seems to be alot of people posting on the dm/csb forums too who do) it would be nice to see all the ideas. All the ones that have made it to the light of day have been original and cool. My e-mail's still beowuuf@yahoo.com, or you can post it for anyone to see at freedrive, login with dmdungeons/dungeons

I'm still interested in this, ideas people had that they never got around to...I must have about four now lying around barely started.

A temple one (designed purely under DMBuilder, that i found really fast to do). The idea being you came to life in the graveyard of a small temple, deserted, and have to solve the mystery. The first level was very 'furniture' heavy - i wanted a logical feeling to the place, as if it was somewhere someone was living, and had used in the past.
There was one based on heroes being ressurected in a keep - they had to find the firestaff (an elemental weapon of great power) and to do that they would have to solve eventaully elemental based tests and go through a hostile if understaffed keep. Again, i wanted it very logically a keep first and foremost, that you moved around in non-linear fasion to solve. There was the start of advanced hex puzzles, including a direction sensitive teleporter in a prison block level, and a set of four buttons that had to be pressed in order (sound familiar? : ) )
There was another one for CSB4Win. I wanted three simple areas - a thief has to break out of a prison block (initailly based on Death row of CSB) then next you would sneak into a bullding with eye of time or armour, to get a map, so that you could do a third tomb setting
Add to this a few play dungeons such as a random level one, an earlier version of the keep idea that was going to be based more on resident evil/EOTB non-linear key getting

I'm bad for starting dungeons then not getting back to them after a week : )

my current idea is another "theme park" (like the prisons are).
this time its a free world wirh 2 towers in it, where 2 opposing wizards life and attack each other. you are between the fronts and your aim is to stop the destruction they cause.
but its only the idea, this will be a huge amout of work, because i have to build in many story-parts and many triggers, so the story can proceed in both towers but nothing happens twice....the party should be free to investigate both towers...

i dont know if i will ever begin or even finish this project.

I started a reconstitution of a scene of the Lord of the Rings in the Moria. It was just to try and test CSBuild really. It is still in an early stage. Tell me what you think of the idea.
I'll upload it in the encyclopedia forum, because the freedrive account seems down to me.

I'm still partway through my dungeon...I haven't done anythign to it for a bit, though (although I do intend to continue working on it some day soon), although it's really crap and I dunno whether I'll upload it to let people actually play it 'cause it's really pooh (so far) :P

I started working on a remake with updated graphics using GameStudio A5. Would anyone be interested in contributing?
