CSBWin 12.4 and CSBuild 3.28

Post by Paul Stevens »

A sturdy person has played Chaos Strikes Back for
over 700 hours. He had not encountered the
Couatl room so he has some work yet to do.

The game timer overflowed at
2**24 counts. It crashed. Another side-effect of
the limited memory of the Atari 512ST.

I have made it possible to play for at least 128
times that long. (Perhaps 256...not tested)

So that means people can now play CSBWin non-stop for 10 years?

The results of this test won't be available until 2023 I am guessing.

Unless you play with an accelerated clock...

Don't do that, while Conflux distracts you with endless riddles and fights, it insidiously starts to study your reality and simulate it in-game(*). After ten years of running, more or less, it would reach your present. If you play with an accelerated clock, reality would then start happening first in the computer, and you would become second. People usually don't like the implications about causality, and that's why the Replicant algorithm always come with a short lifespan. Extending Conflux to ten years is risky. I only take responsibility for the first 700 hours, the rest is up to yours.

(*): or maybe I didn't include this feature after all. Can't remember.
