Living Dead Bug
No idea if this is already known, but i've just found a crazy living dead bug while messing about with the editor...
Place a high damage square (high enough to kill everyone) on a tile and then put a pit on it. The damage tile must come before the pit or it doesn't work.
Start the game and fall down the pit. Everyone dies, but you keep playing. Further to this... One character is still selectable. You can still pick up objects, throw things etc...
Monsters still see and attack you, but... Although you cannot fight, whatever damage they would normally inflict is inflicted on themselves and they eventually die.
Kinda fun watching them run away when low on health, as they're essentially trying to avoid committing suicide.
Also, a weird thing happens where you can have multiple monsters on the same tile (ie.. monsters that are only allowed one per tile). I cornered two oitus on the same tile and watched as they attacked me and died in tandem.
This is ultimately pointless because unfortunately you also cannot cast spells, and it soon becomes dark. So unless there are plenty of torches, you end up wandering around in the pitch black.
The party's bones are all there though, so i suppose you could pick them up and take them to an altar. Didn't try that...

Re: Living Dead Bug
Could that be an easter egg from GG ?
Can one pick his own bones and resurect in a Vi altar ?
May be worth a small halloween dungeon we could play.

Haha... I was thinking something similar.
You can indeed pick up your own bones, but i didn't try taking them to an altar.

Re: Living Dead Bug
it's the same as starting with no character, but to be able to pick up your bones is just insane. i'll have to hack with that. you can while playing remove all characters from the party and still move about, the only thing you can click on is a mirror, I've explored this, I did not notice being able to pick up anything while no characters in the party. this is interesting and can be very useful if I can figure out how it works.

Re: Living Dead Bug
Return from the deads.
I made a tiny test dungeon to see this.
Jumping in such a pit, I do die, but still have some life.
I see my bones on the floor. I can pick objects, throw them, I cannot cast spells.
I picked up my own bones, put them in a vi altar....Then I am back, fully alive.
Isn' t fun to die and resurect as many times as you wish .

Re: Living Dead Bug
When it happened, i only had two test characters in the party. For some reason it was the second character that was able to handle objects.
I tried it again to make sure, and it happened again. So not just a one-off.

Re: Living Dead Bug
I do not understand what "So not just a one-off." means.
My test was with one character.
I made more tests adding mirrors to use a party of 2, 3 or 4.
When fallen, the last in the party is the "living dead", the others are plain dead.
Resurection of all party members, in a Vi altar, is possible wether the bones are on the floor or have been picked up by the "living dead" in his inventory.
A living dead has a great power, nothing can kill him more.

Re: Living Dead Bug
I meant that the first time it happened, i thought it might have been just a one-time error.

Re: Living Dead Bug
I think it may be because there is a test character being used. Try doing it with all mirror added characters and see if the player stays alive even though the party is dead. I have a question, if a wall object is operated by party empty, does that mean it can be still clicked on by the player just like the mirrors?

Re: Living Dead Bug
Yes... Wall objects can still be clicked by the dead party.
Also, the bug works with any character (test or otherwise).

Re: Living Dead Bug
It is possible to remove the only character in the party and be left with nobody in the party. Will need to go back and have another look at this, there are some strange mechanics, it is also possible to remove a character and have them end up in another characters mirror if a test character has been used.

Re: Living Dead Bug
Ah... Didn't try anything with mirrors. Interesting!
