Slightly confused about CSB and DM

Post by kylerickards »

Hi

After some general help with the game if possible?

I am running Linux Mint 19.3 and I think I have downloaded the right version of DM but when I downloaded the CSB (CSBwin_linux_x86-64_SDL20_20180421-1550), I can't seem to do anything with the file? Also when I click into hint from the main menu on DM, it closes the game? Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you

Well, I put it there so I SHOULD know what it is. It appears to be
a linux executable. Just the executable....no game or anything.
I imagine it was meant as an update.

Go to:
http://dianneandpaul.net/CSBwin/Games/
and there you will find links to various games that you can play with CSBwin.
In the case of linux, each is a ".tar" file with all the files needed to
play one of the games.

If you like, you can replace the executable from those ".tar" files with the
latest executable (the one you found). It is probable that you will not notice
any difference.

Let us know if you still have problems.

Hiya

Still confused!

So I followed the link from the previous message - downloaded and extracted CSB_linux_x86-32_SDL20_20151212. The files are there but it won't let me run anything?

In the DM version that does work (DM_linux_x64_SDL20_20180508) I see there are some files names CSBGAME.BAK and CSBGAME.DAT and CSBWin. So I am even more confused now! DM does run and it looks like the game I always knew from back in the day?

Here are three thoughts:

1) Copy CSBwin from your DM to your CSB directory.

2) I just downloaded:
http://dianneandpaul.net/CSBwin/Games/C ... 151212.tar
And it contains a CSBwin whereas your directory listing appears to be missing
this rather critical file.Image

3) Your DM listing is for a 64-bit system whereas your CSB listing is for a 32-bit system.
Again, copy the CSBwin from the DM directory to the CSB directory.

Hi

Thank you! Copying the file across - it asks about a hint disk on CSB but I can cope without that!

Thank you again!
