Managed to finally get through the Canyons level. The answer is so simple and logical when you understand it. I think that I kept getting distracted and somewhat annoyed by the re-spawning mini tornadoes. On to the Graveyard, which I found a lot easier and have just done the Timed Switches level. I travel light, so I can move fast when needed. The spell-shield is invaluable. I play with a full team and have each of them cast it when I see that it's needed. I read somewhere that it consolidates/increases power when you keep casting it.
I can see some tough enemies ahead, so I saved my game. Using multiple save slots for fear of getting stuck or locked in an area with no way out. At present there is always a way back for food and water. It is most satisfying to be making progress after being stuck in the Canyons for ages.
Thinking of re-starting with Ouch's 4 custom characters. Reason being is that 3 of my team can't carry much (Ouch's Ninja can) and I get the feeling that there is loads more to find. My team: Leyla, Ninja, Wu Tse and Chani. The latter 2 are great at spell-casting but having not yet found the required Strength rune are limited in what they can carry. Also feel like a change.
Great DM mod. Many thanks Ouch.

Don't mind carrying stuff. There is a place with unlimited water and food. A place, handy to dump all of your stuff.
I like to travel light with leather outfits only.
About the rune you are missing, you can find it with the editor using the source code.
Spoiler
I presume it is the Max rune, that I missed too. I recall it is at the end of a level ( Graveyard ? ) and you need 3 grey keys, hard to see on the floor.

Yes, some keys are very hard to see, especially in the heat of battle or trying to find a correct route through invisible teleporters.

One of the 3 skull keys was very hard to see on the floor; well they all are, but trying to get through a long room with invisible teleporters made me miss it. I probably would never have found it if I hadn't read ouch's location of the 3 keys. Found the place that terkio mentioned for food and water and can use this as a base to return to if needed.
Have arrived at the Chaos level and the difficulty bar has just been raised. Am hating rust monsters, so keeping well away and taking them out with fireballs.

Right, watch for rusters and don't let them come close. Once rusted there is no way to unrust. I made the mistake to save, not aware I had been rusted, so had to restart from an earlier save game.

Got in the habit of checking my party after any combat when damage has been taken. Also, saving often to multiple save slots. Just in case.
