Does anyone know how DMute was programmed? Where did the information about how Dungeon Master works come from? The author mentions the "game source". Does he have it?
I would really like to get more information on how the inner-workings of Dungeon Master but Wayne Holder has not responded to my emails so it would seem the next logical stop is the author of DMute.
Or perhaps this forum?
Any help would be great.
Matt

Re: dmute
George Gilbert is the man you should speak to. He does not have the source code to DM - he simply (?) worked out the data structure over several months if not years of reverse engineering the DAT file format.
Change a byte, test the game, note the result repeat ad infinitum until you start getting an idea of which bytes do what. Then you can start to build up a picture of the structure of the DAT file. It's an extremely long and frustrating process and it's why George deserves huge respect for the time he put into DMute.
