Does armour actually work??

Does armour actually work?? I have heard that wearing any piece of clothing is just as good.
Also, do shields work when you are carrying them in your non action hand????

Big yes to both. You will see the value of armour when at the later levels and taking on big things, knights and the dragon for example. You would be wiped out in a single hit by the dragon without armour. (but try it if you wish)

It does help resist attacks off monsters like Knights and Golems. I am not sure about sheilds, they seem to be pretty useless.
Keep rockin' yeah!
