Spring cleaning

Post by beowuuf »

Created a general archive area for posts - cleaned some of the dead conflux II topics out of the custom dungeon forum, and started cleaning out DM2 but it is harder so I left it pretty much alone and stickied the best getting DM2 working discussion.

Anyway, if anyone has any comments about not being able to find things on a forum becuase of the dead posts then yell.

Right, tidied the first page only of CSBwin forum since there was a comment about not finding things. Mainly there is now a link to helpful topics - I havven't gone deeper. If anyone misses the CSBwin topics I will move them back.

I also added a seperate DM Java forum with link to the original forums

Just released that the mods assigned to the forums are out of date and weird...hope no one minds me doing a little shake up the too

Not that we really need the mods too much, but nice to have a few of the regulars able to move, lock or edit the forums they have a particular influence over incase admins ain't around. It's not meant to force you to actually mod stuff if you don't wanna : )

Ameena, don't be scared I put you on creative fourm and Dm2, and I assigned paulH and sophia a few fourms too, to help zyx and balance out the fact sucinum and andy aren't around as much

Linflas, hope you don't mind I put you in for modding the RTC tilities too so at least you can keep your own RTCWM stuff tidy if you like : )

Actually, old mods seem to still have their status even without a forum...weird. And rain, made you a mod so you can tweak your ADGE thread, plus then looks liek there is a mod to that forum : )

Tweaked the mods a bit - added Ameena and Sophia to some of the initial forums just for when us admins aren't around during the day/night (damn spammers), and Lunever, dont' know if you noticed but you were added to the RTC forums.

We dont' seem to have that much problems with people posting really, but still nice to have active people available all the time on the common ones!

Ohh cool...yeah it annoys me when I notice a spammy-porno-type post appear during the day but it's not in the Creative Endeavours or DM2 forum so I can't do anything about it.

Lol, aww, but it would be so easy to do that! Just a tab click away!

Lol, no, I'm afraid that thye tend to post right away so you tend to go 'oh, new user, twat him...why's a spambot got 5 posts...grrr...'

You just have to fight them hand to hand with the tools you gots and leave the clean up nuking to us power mad fools. Wahahaha

Oh, , linflas, i snuck you into a few forums too :)

Lol, use it wisely and only delete posts of people you don't like, or because it's really funny, or because you have had a bad day - nothing arbitrary!

I don't know if you have used the mod stuff before - bottom right of the forum in the list of all you can do is a line that says 'mod this forum' - with that you can split topics away from one, or you can lock/move them (best never to delete one, shove it in the general archive or for pruning unless it's a spam thread)

You can also edit people's posts - to make them stick/announcements, to delete them individually, or simply add soemthing (like an updated link or corrected code)

and kick out those guys wchich spams the forum with sexxx/viagras/rolex/cheap batteries links etc. - they makes me mad sometimes, especially in "guest posting enabled" forum. Or that regular user, wchich advertises his @#$% italian-dance radio station, I hate him! :D

Oh, just a curious - do the mods have a power to ban themselves (other mods) or an admins (*) from the forum?

(*) - I was afraid even to THINK it was possible :o

Admins have automatic mod powers over *all* the forums, regardless of whether or not they are a listed moderator of a forum.

Bwaaa haaa haa (etc)

No, mods can't do anything user wise except in flashchat, where they have equal footing

Which is a shame, as of course bannign the IP and e-mail of a spammer and their access is alot of the battle soemtimes

About the only Mod-type things I've done since I was first made a Mod last year (or whenever it was) is delete about two (spammy) posts in the Creative Endeavours forum. Apart from that, I've just been carrying on as normal :).
