Yep, that's definitely him. I love the cult speech, he gave me some of that text in my interview.

I wonder if we asked nicely, he'd give us the source code?

Hmmm. That reminds me. I had a website I promised to build for him. What was it again?

And cool then! Does he know about the encyclopaedia, etc?

Oh yes, a lot of them do. Andy Jaros, Kirk Baker and Don Jordan are three that spring to mind who have interacted with us over the years....

I have a feeling that it's not so much whether he wants to (who wouldn't, really, given the fan following so many years down the line?) but whether the corporate lawyers who own the intellectual property now wouldn't have a fit at the very prospect (odds are good they'll sue you for even bringing it up)

Heh, I was rather joking. When FTL ceased trading, the code assets ownership defaulted back to Doug & Wayne. So they could still release it if they wanted to, but there's little point since Mr.Stevens released his magnum opus.

I'm more interested in the inner workings of FTL than DM.

Suppose you asked for the source to DM2 and found a better way to run it in XP?

I have a lot of the former already (knowledge). I've conducted extensive interviews with Doug and some of the rest of the team, which is what will be on my site (coming soon! ;) )

I don't think he would release the latter (code) -- as far as I can tell, Wayne still owns the copyright on all that and doesn't want it released.

Well if I was him, I wouldn't feel like releasing either, BUT all he can do with it is chitchatting with all the variables and functions. It is neither sellable nor usable in the general meaning. He prolly isn't interested in gaming industry anymore anyway. Why not make some very dedicated people happy?

I bet he would. I think there`s a few people on the forum that would be interested!
I just found this site (link from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ ), and since I now program almost exclusively in Java, was interested to check it out. I haven't looked at the Java version of DM, but I may be the only person in the world that still has the original C and assembly source code. :D
I mean, he didn`t wrote that for nothing. I guess it was something like a proposition "You can get the source code if you are interested".

I'd love a proper version of Dungeon Master Java.

The Dungeon Master Java there is at the moment feels only half-done.

Roquen has been working on the interface, and Kelly had updated things before - it might be an idea to check it out again!

Roquen has improved quite a bit with the engine, as well as some of the graphic work kelly has done is quite good.
You should give dungeon master java another chance, but I might be a little biased
