LOL, just because she decided to enter the dungeon using only a wickedly sharpened apple as a weapon is no reason to mock Syra : )
I think it's unfair to call Mophus a psycho, he's just a little too happy, that's all.
Eh, I don't know why the CSB characters just don't seem to have as much life as the DM ones...maybe it's just because they are there and not tied directly to the game like the characters in the Hall of Champions are.

Hahaha ... we can be the Mophus Defender Team! We can make tshirts and everything.
Honestly, I think it's because the CSB people come in teams. In DM, you have these varied individuals and you have to form your own team out of them. I mean, yeah, Boris and Tiggy are both tiny halfling mages of sorts, and Leif and Syra are the elves, but that's honestly about as similar as you get with that game. The CSB people come in pairs or complete sets. That kind of makes them feel more gimmicky, and there's less personality, less originality. Like ... "oh, I think I'll go with the fairy tale creatures! Or, no, I'll take the team of undead!" With DM, you put together a team however you wanted, out of whomever you wanted. And just look at the different relationships between the teams in our various DM stories to see what that will do.

strange enough, elves and faires get often confused with each other, for example the tinkerbell-thingie in peter pan is claimed to be an elf (in the german version at least). the quote-fairy in DM is of course tiggy.
we also have "elben" (tolkien-translation) and "elfen" (gigax-translation and of course all fairies) in germany. i think, tolkien had his translator use the b-elves (hehe) to annoy gigax as sole purpose.
rather confusing if you are not inside fantasy-stuff. for me, ad&d monster library is always right and many follow them, like charmed (at least, as far as i see it).

beowuuf wrote:you know what, I think you hit the nail on the head - like 'Ooh, I have the Four Horsemen of the Apocolyse, whahahah, we'll take over the dungoen and keep doing Chaos's good work! Whahaha...Aww, please, one little Apocolypse? Bah, ooooooooooooook, we'll destroy the corbums' *whistle*

*sniff*

As a coincidence, I just happened to re-read that thread today! Great fun!

Did I say Leif? I meant Linflas. Cut me some slack, they're both dudes whose names begin with L and my brain isn't always fully functional. Wah wah wah.
There are so many different words for different kinds (or even the same kinds!) of fantasy creatures that I have given up trying to figure out exactly what name to use for which. I use the names I like, since I'll have to clarify and explain anyway.
Wu Tse is a GIRL. C'mon, am I going to have to become the Character Defense Squadron now? I could do it, you know ... singlehandedly be a squadron...
... I'll just recruit a couple screamers and those stupid coatl things that everyone hates.

Champions of that infamous dungeon...
excuse me as i contribute something on topic :p
Although I have a tendency to employ female characters in the party, Tunda (the Centaur kid) Kazai (the sequestered Ninja) and Itza (the funky Aztec) seem to be the best allrounders.
Adding Petal for mana resources or Sting to carry the loads makes a great quartet, as discovered in my recent (5th? 6th?)visit.
Still I enjoyed much more playing with my imported DM characters who had formerly been reincarnated and made their path to the higher master degrees (never became archmasters though)...
