The use of heavy armor?

Post by Rage »

I'm all happy to find the Ra armory, but the problem is that it's too heavy. I only got one character and I want to play all of CSB, so i'm not trying to beat the time record:) So if I want to play it all I will need quite a bunch of items on me, so I can't really use heavy armor coz it makes my weight go yellow, although my char has reached 82 strentgh..w00h00.
But I was wondering if it really has that much use to use the RA armors, coz I don't really know if it has a big advantage!?
Probably it will give me better protection, but I can't really see that anywhere in numbers, it's not that I can that my armour class becomes better, so it feels so unsatisfying to dress myself up with the RA armor.
Right now I wear the Mithril Aketon which sure ain't heavy so I'm pretty happy with it so why would I wanna wear the RA armor, except for that fact that it looks cool?

p.s. I do know why I would wanna wear the Powertowers, coz the gimme a strengt b00st, so I would never wanna replace them.

Does the RA armor give you some big bonus when you got all parts of them?

dunno.

It is my opinion that the Power Towers, the DexHelm, and the
Flambain (sp?) are very handy. I never have found that the heavy
armor is that useful.

Yes I'm thinking the same, dunno what use it has to wear things that weigh up to 15kg?

I've gone with the heavier plate over flamebain, but have no good reason for it
otherwise dexhelm, power towers and boots of speed make it all accadenic really cause they are using up the slots : )
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

The Flamebain just prevents the fireballs up on level zero.
No real need for it because there are other ways. Being
quick is one of the ways. It also adjusts anit-fire by 12 points;
which can be nice if you have just the one character.

lol, it's not conclusive research, but i just spend like a minute throwing fireballs at the wall, and the difference in damage between having plate and having flamebain wasn't noticeable
the spread is quite wide, but it seemed about the same spread - so there you go : )

heh, oh well I will just make sure I'm not overloaded. Aslong as I'm not overloaded I'm happy:)

I placed the Ra armor in the starting worm room, so I can always pick it up later.
p.s. the secret room in the supllies for the quick had different goodies when I came back there after finishing Ku and Ros, I was just checking if I could find the sword with the disrupt ability(forgot the name), but as I knew I already took it when I started, but somehow it dissapeared?!
So dunno if anyone knew that the secret room with lots of VEN en FUL bombs in it at the start has different items when you return there later?
And if anyone knows how the hell my anti-material beings sword dissapeared?! coz it's hella useful against those damn flames, don't wanna spend all my mana on 1 flame:/

That is a Vorpal Blade. There are two. And they are handy.

They should not disappear. If you are playing CSB for Windows
then I would like to know what happened. If so, send me the
saved game and I will see what I can find out.

The sad thing I somehow lost it and only founf out a lot later, atleast I think.
I play CSB following the walkthrough, so I first played the Ku part and I used the Vorpal blade to chop my way through to the Black Flames, after that I didn't need it anymore, but I found out later on my way in the ROS part that I lost my Vorpal Blade...
I still got csbgame4 and that is just before the DDD of Ku, I still got it there, but I that doesn't really help I think, coz I just can not remember when I lost, I simply don't have a clue.
I think it was gone when I loaded a game, but I'm not sure.....

I want 1 again before I have to oppose Zytaz's :) What I remember of those creatures is that they are damn annoying just like the Materializers in DM.

Are you still playing the game?

You can make a savegame and produce an ASCII dump
of it. Then search the dump for 'Vorpal'.

Or list the items in the dungeon (Misc Menu...Items remaining)
and search the entire, long list very carfully. A giggler may
have your blade.

That's about all the help I know how to offer if you cannot
send me a copy of your current game.

Two things I forgot to say...

If you can put a Vorpal Blade in a chest then there is the
possibility that it disappeared. Version 9.0 and older would
lose all but the first item in a chest if you have another
chest in your weapon hand when you put the chest up to
your 'eye' to see its contents.

There are two Vorpal Blades. Go get the other one outside
the Couatl area.
