... or so the saying goes. Today I learnt that roast parsnips give dogs violent hiccups. Yes really!

What's a parsnip again? Some kind of vegetable?

I should know this, I really should.

Apparently, the Earth is ROUND!

And Uranus is, in fact, a PLANET! Who knew?

I learned that two of the canadian national animals have some rather nasty habits.

The moose, falls on it's back and takes a leak all over himself to make himself irrisistable to a female moose. Apparently the entire moose culture revolves around golden showers.. :P

The beaver, well it's solid diet of wood seems to be an issue for it. You see, it can not digest it the first time around... yes.. I said the ~*FIRST TIME*~ around... apparently the little critter will immediately start chowing down on it's own ass in order to get the nutrients it missed on the first time arround.. (*GROSS*)

I'll keep my eye on the loon.. but I mean.. it's name is bad enough.. oh wait.. doesn't the term Loon (meaning crazy) come from the animal itself.. oh.. well.. I guess there we have it.. all 3 of our animals have their various issues.. Yay Canada!

lol, i think it's probably better just to keep your eye on the spendable one and leave the real one alone if animals are that gross in nature!

Edit: BFS - dunno whether to fall about laughing or run away screaming...probably a conbination of the two *rolls away screaming with laughter and terror*

Todays fascinating fact, which I discovered half an hour ago: cheap bubble wrap makes louder popping noises than the expensive stuff.

The male Caribou does the same thing as a Moose; it pees in a depression and rolls around in it.

And the Koala can only eat one type of tree leaves, but it can't eat it at first when it's young because of the acidity or toxins, it can even die from eating the leaves. The solution is for the young to eat it's mothers poo which has the enzymes in it to allow the baby to digest the leaves.

Wouldn't that be a nice thing for your mom to do to you while you are young?!? "Here honey, I just made this for you.....now eat your poo." YUK!

Apparently old people do similar things all the time. Though generally not through choice.

Rabbits eat their pooh, too. I dunno if it's just rabbits, or lagomorphs in general (that is, the name for rabbits, hares etc 'cause they're not rodents). Apparently the first time they do it it's soft and brown, then at the end of the day it comes out hard and black.
Nice.

Did you know that most dogs will drool over bird crap because it contains lime and they love it?

Additional info for non-canadians : We usually call the one Can. Dollar coin a loonie !
