I remember once when me and a few mates sneaked 24 bottles of Stella into a lecture theatre! There were about 80 people in there, and every few minutes there was a 'pssssst' as a bottle was opened. Made the lecture on relativity go a lot quicker...
You see, that's what I'm missing out on! I do a computer course with about 30 or so people (and half of them don't turn up at the best of times), so we can't get away with stuff like that.
It'll be worth it at the end, believe me. There is a lot you can do nowadays with computer quals. Physics was fun though. Getting to play with liquid nitrogen, lasers, radioactive seaweed and things that caught fire was great!

It was amazing. We found traces of stuff everywhere: Cs137 in the dust on the floor - fallout from Chernobyl. Radioactive K in coffee and salt. Paradoxically the largest source of background radiation was from the lead 'castles' that surrounded the gamma detectors. Light from the fluorescent lighting would release X-rays from the lead!!! It was an interesting place to work. I had access to the keys to the 'sources' room that we used to calibrate the detectors. This was a room with 1ft thick concrete walls that contained all manner of radioactive materials in lead containers.
Dear me, do you glow in the dark lol? I would have loved to do Physics or Astrophysics but I'm just too lazy where maths is concerned. Proberbally shouldn't be doing a course in programming then...
I just about glow, I have had more than my fair share of radiation. I have had one of these scans at hospital where I was injected with radioactive Iodine... I had to carry a big orange sign with me, was not allowed within 6 ft of anyone and had to flush the toilet twice!
The maths is a pain. We had to do some programming too. In Fortran 77.
