Still proceeding nicely in the excellent Black Flame.

Hit a snag here though.

Im in the room where the key keeps whisking away and ends up in the middle up the pits. can't find a way through to it. Any hints gratefully received.

EDIT Ok got it.

Cool! Sometimes my puzzles have more than one answer, and some require a slightly different perspective to 'normal' DM thinking!

Yeah, I don't want to sound too sycophantic, but this is a GREAT game.

Just been trapped down the mines, food exhausted, mana spent. Examined and head butted every inch of wall. No way out and this poxy water elemental seeming to be invincible.

Then with my very very last breath down he goes and every thing comes good again !

For game play this certainly is a match for the original games.

Yeah, he is quite evil that elemental, years of feeding off all the treasures down there....

Monster/fight balancing is hard to do, so seems to have worked nicely here!

Still a fair way to go yet...

Sadly stuck again. been running around after defeating that water elemental but cant find access to any new areas.

Im currently facing a forcefield with a switch behind it. Next to the room where the worms appear after walking on the pressure pad. Explored all around this area and can only hope that switch is significant if I can get to it.

Also baffled by the speed is the key inscription.

Subtle or unsubtle hints please.

Well, you have me confused now!

I thought you had already done the above, as you had descended the mine and solved the problem of the teleporting key.

So... for the 'speed is the key', enter the teleporter next to the text and head north quickly to find the button you can see.

But I am still confused! Maybe send me your save game?

Lol, trust me. I thought I had this bit beaten as well.

I will have another scout round to see if Im just being blind or dim. I fear its dim !

Will let you know the outcome.

Ah, the bit where the worms appear, early on in the game: the button you can see triggered the teleporter (blue field) which transports you to the worms.

Speed is the key: it seems you may have done this: the slower you were, the more monsters appeared.

I would say head deep as you can and explore from there
