I have seen several of these "optical illusion" things online before, but this is definitely the most impressive one.

Ah, very good.

We had a few 'real' examples of these in our physics department foyer. One was a lightbulb behind a rotating disc with slit in it, which would make the standard bulp appear allsorts of colours when rotated. It is something to do with the way our brain processes movement and colour from different angles.

The dissapearing of the dots is a quite interesting phenomena and can be easily recreated in RL. Find a shadow on the wall or ceiling, preferably from natural light from say a lamp shade or wall fitting. Stare at it and don't blink. It slowy dissappears!

No, the pink ones really don't disappear (only the one blinking using the animated gif), and it really is an optical illusion - the way to tekll is that you keep staring it, thye are gone, the second you look at them, thye are back!

Also, if you keep moving your gaze over the image for an hour, you'll finally see an assembly of 12 mexicans with purple mutant hats being contaminated by the ultra fast and ultra rare green disease. Don't worry, they recover from it in a blink.

I have got a power point presentation from a good pal.
Some things there you probably know already, but
one thing could be new (a text that you can read)
and it is worth it!
Here you can check it out:
