Is the 'Dwarven Obituary hall' a part of the Crypt?
Im there at the moment, but im not sure what level this is.
There are skeletons and ghosts, and there are 'Ashes all over the floor here.

It is indeed, there are either illusionary walls or switches that allow all of it to connect to the central crypt. Note that, if you didn't have a full party, there are ways to activate the fallen dwarves and the less savoury characters around as party memebers...

And I should have warned you - use alcoves in the guild hall and the main hall for your stashes, just incase evil critters appear...

Humbling experiences tonight on this fantastic dungeon.

I went on a kamikaze run using a different game save.Ventured into these crypts, and got completely and utterly lost. :(

Few Notes
* An area with the mouldy mildew wall set, with doors everywhere.and the game kept saying i was paralyzed.
Any idea where i was??

* Found a altar.and clicked on it..and ended up in a sewer like area that was wall to wall with the green slime monsters.I killed them all,but there was nothing else in this area.

* An area with a Giggler trapped behind a RA door begging for my help. And a Golem at the bottom of the stairs, and the dungeon started filling up with water??

Iv kept my notes, and will explore these area's on my main game save (if i manage to find them again)

Oh...and there was another area with many giant spiders.

I found the Horn of fear,so im hoping it will be useful against these new challenges.

Is the central area of the crypt where i should be exploring?
i found a large arae with poison bolts flying all over the place and there is pressure pads on the floor ect.
My main game is saved at the dwarven obituary, and i have destroyed skeletons and ghosts.Found the Horn of fear.

What is the area to tackle next? The ash stairs or the stairs in the ghost area?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you hit the apprentice rooms - the paralysis would be mind flayers. Nasty critters! Not sure how you dropped in there from where you were. Or maybe there's another place.

There are a few altars that teleport you - you were in the altar of nightmare, I think. There is a safe spot, but I think the last time I was there the only thing was a snapdragon?

Until you mentioned water, I thoguht I knew where you were - the theif area? Remember, RA holes can be burned away with zokathra if needed.

The spider area is the area I completely forgot below the crypt, THEN it's the council. Some nice items around, some puzzles to solve, (both wall puzzles and at least one level wide puzzle)

The ahs stairwell is the skeleton staircase of Conflux, it lets you go to and from certain places quickly, but is of limited use going down it (I think)

The crypt's altars I completely forgot - there is at least one altar (the altar of battle) that is a mini-dungeon all of its own. The crypt has a central area with four side to explor4,e I would explore these four sides. The place where the poison bolts are coming form is a place where evil champions lie, and also something far worse...

Look for illusionary walls, and fear stepping on pressure plates. There are two areas with deads ends and altars to explore (click on them altars but beware what you might find) and also loot the tombs if you can. The thrice born and the other I just mentioned. And you should be able to find dumfrag's tomb and the way back to the obituary hall if you open all the area and find the illusionary walls.

Also, did you ever get back to the dwarf forge? Did you ever find the dwarf stronghold and activate the shortcut back to the guld level? If the crypt kicks your arse and you didn't get to the end of the mines, those (and the slug area above the mines in the sewer) might be good places to clean out.

I'm reletively new to Conflux as well, I've been having a great time!

The next thing I'm working on is the guild endings though - had a quick look at them and they're very nasty! :D

Hi all, looking for the latest Conflux III version, which I believe is WIP007. Unfortunately the only link I could find, http://www.cyberskald.com/conflux/Conflux_WIP007.zip, appears to be down. Does anyone have a mirror or a way to get the latest version? Just finished a play through/recording of CSB an am keen to do the same with Conflux :) It's been too long!

Thanks!

Last December I got the latest from Zyx.

http://dianneandpaul.net/CSBwin/Games/C ... 151214.zip

I cannot find any version number information within it. Zyx really should put
the version information into the menu 'Help/Game Version'.

I look forward to your recording of a complete Conflux game. I will immediately
add it to the release of CSBwin for all four platforms on my website.

I really should be posting this in the main Conflux thread but...

After testing wip007, I won't recommend this version of Conflux. Many creatures in this version are "nurfed". I had skeletons, scorpions, dragons and other "fearless" creatures run away from my sole champion Gando. They would attack if face to face , but would retreat given any distance. I was able to go face to face with scorpions without taking any damage. Disease in this version is close to non-existant, but the normal challenge that I've expeirenced with previous versions is lacking. The difficulty was so lacking that I was able to complete certain milestones in record time. While I haven't reached what I consider the completion phase of the dungeon, I haven't found any issues that didn't exist in wip006. I'd therefore recommend using wip006 for the time being.

It looks like the WIP007 bug fix version came out around September this year, according to posts in the main Conflux thread. So maybe the version from December last year is the WIP006 version? But if there are issues with the WIP007 version regardless it's probably best to wait to see if Zyx has any input. I'm not sure about playing the WIP006 version as apparently it has a brutal disease bug which was fixed for WIP007. I'd rather play the WIP007 version and track down any bugs to see if they could get fixed and then play through a WIP008 version. If you have the WIP007 version handy, would you be able to upload it somewhere?

I am in 100 percent agreement. I'll update the release on
my website if Zyx says a better version is available. At the
same time I will encourage him to include the version number
as part of the release so that we can avoid future confusion.

I'll send him an email to try and awaken his interest.

Hello, I'm currently overwhelmed with RL imperatives, will try to upload a wip008 this weekend, will put the version number correctly.
Paul, was there any change in the engine about the fear behaviour? I don't remember touching anything about that.

I don't think so. I don't think I changed anything having to
do with actual play of the game.

The only way to know for sure is to have someone who knows what to
look for try the same Conflux version with an old and a new version
of CSBwin. Volunteer, anyone?

I mainly use a 15.0 CSBwin version that doesn't generate the excessive DSA warning, but I repeated battles with the 15.8 that ships with wip007 and there was no difference.

@Zyx: Don't rush on my behalf! I'm happy to wait :)

I just finished a play through of CSB with CSBWin version 15.7, which was the latest I could find, and I didn't notice any strange behaviour with the monsters. I did notice the spells monsters cast are now at full strength! I'm guessing a fix was put in for that at some point, it makes a big (positive) difference. Maybe all the old DM and CSB records should now be invalidated as the monsters had wimpy fireballs previously.... haha.

If I could get my hands on the WIP007 version, I'd be happy to test it out and possibly make a recording + trace of the issue.

I just examined versions 15.7 and 15.8. They are different in only one
respect. Version 15.8 limits skill and experience values to a maximum
of 0x10000000. I do not remember why I did this but I do remember
that someone played one of the games for thousands of hours and managed
to raise some value so high that it wrapped around to become negative.
I'll wager that version 15.8 was created to fix this problem.

I didn't fix the monster avoiding behaviour, still no clue. If you happen to experience it, please record it, it will help greatly. I'll be offline for two weeks. Let's hope this version is playable!

All of the secrets are there to see.
I think that was intended.

A bit of steganography. The secrets may be there to see but
finding them can be very difficult. The bulk of Conflux lies in the
scripting. He who can make heads or tails of the scripts deserves
a badge of courage, at the minimum. I was making good progress
but finally collapsed of exhaustion. ( I did find a couple bugs. )

Yes, the dungeon is opensource. Hooray, another way to say hooray! Anyone mad enough can fix the bugs, or garden new seeds from it or into it! About the scripts, there's a folder DOCS full of - possibly helping, more probably confusing - notes.

I did find a peculiar bug with the alchemical oven. Haven't used it 3 times because I simply forgot during unlocks. Then I used it
Spoiler
to replicate the Zo Liqueors with Sar Wine + Zo Liqouer recepie and all I started getting was bizarre outcomes. I put in a Ven Egg and got a dragon heart without putting anything else in! ANd I couldn't get a Cobrum no more with Kath Vinegar + Zo Liquer
. Mind if I send you the savefile for checking, Zyx?

Hi there, I think there's a bug in the Apprentice Room when you get the
Spoiler
Energize Dead Spores spell
. I get the following error:

DSA &PARAM@ non-existent parameter
DSA at 16(8,24)
Row=0;Col=0

Followed by:

DSA variable[0] used without
having been assigned a value.
Should Future warnings be suppressed?

Had a look around at the source code at the DSA referred to at 16(8,24) but couldn't see what values I should be changing, they're quite complicated! I'll keep having a look though.

I was also wondering, if I fix the issue in my current save game and the original dungeon file, would a playback created with that save game still run? Or, since I can't immediately see any bad effects from the error, is it possible to continue playing and a playback would still successfully run?

Can also send a save game if it's needed.

I've haven't noticed the issue Phoenix mentioned with monsters suddenly running away. I have noticed that when a group of monsters split in two sometimes they may run away, as if the 'monsters in a group run away when one is killed' mechanism is firing when these splits occur.

That is very difficult to say. If it causes any change in the play
(such as causing an additional random number to be generated)
then the answer is definitely NO.

This must be the first time you have encountered this error.
Can we perhaps fix the error and then you restart from a
saved game before the error occurred?

Meanwhile, I will look at the DSA to see if I can make
any sense of it.

Re: [CSBwin] Conflux III: the Undercity

That appears to be the only place this particular DSA is used.
It seems to be activated by placing an object in an alcove
at 16(12,30). So....if you can backup to a saved game before
placing an object in the alcove and you can delay placing an
object there until we fix the DSA, then playback will not be
affected. I think.

Let us wait a couple days to see if Zyx will contribute some
wisdom. Then, if we get no help, I would like to see a saved
game and replay file that causes this error. There are two
actuators at 16(10,30). One is named "energize ful bomb"
and the other is an AND/OR gate directed to the DSA that
causes the error and is named "Wash Foortprints". I have a
hunch that the two have gotten confused. But, as you say,
it is complicated and will take a couple hours of study to be
relatively sure.
