Okay, maybe not ANY piece of crap....

No, get the 360, and pick up a USB stick for $10-$20.

This new version is getting me confused. First off, when I went to get the Funereal thorn, it wasn't at the place where it was in version IIIg. Later, I'm minding my own business in the sewers and I get the "This feat will be remembered" message from not doing anything. Then I find and kill a Giggler on the sewer level and it drops the Funereal thorn. Plus half of my spells seem to randomly fizzle in different areas. Also, the Funereal dagger seemed to work at first, but now it doesn't work anymore (it's not broken or cursed). Is this all normal?

There is no way I'll be able to do the six point run without a mouse and number pad. Oh well. I am still enjoying it on my thumb drive.

Okay, I checked the version history and found out that the Funereal weapons do indeed suck quite a bit more, especially the dagger. Still confused about some of the otherthings.

No Mouse? How do you pick things
off the floor?

What can you do on a number pad that you
cannot do on the 'letter' keys?

I'm willing to try to help with modfications
to the config.txt or even to CSBwin.exe, if
necessary (and reasonable).

The number pad is what I use to move. Sure I can use the 'jklm,.' keys, but I've mastered my own playing method by using the number pad at the right.
I use the laptop pad thingy to move the hand and pick stuff up. Very tough to get it right for opening a door, among other things.

could you send a savegame+log demostrating this? (so I can replay the weird part).

I'm not sure which log it would be. I have 29 logs.

They are quite small, you could probably sent them all zipped :D

Have you played long? Because 29 logs to replay seems like hours or days of play. Too much for my dwindling spare time.

The best for me would be:
1) You load a game (a log is created), and one of the possible bugs occur.
2) You immediately send the savegame you loaded with the last log.

Oh, well, I already sent the logs. I have played for maybe 8 hours. I would guess that most the bugs occured at or after log 15. I'm playing now though so I'll see if anything else happens.
Any of the later logs should have the incorrect Hood art, if you want to start there.

We probably could remap the 'YUIOPHJKL;NM,./'
keys (or whatever keys you like) to do things like:
Throw left
Throw Right
Press Door switch
Pick up (or place)(6 places) (this is hardest)

Would this be helpful?

You don't have to go through all that extra trouble. I'll just play normally for now and try the six point rush whenever I have the proper means to. I'm slowly getting better at playing this on a laptop, but it is still much more tough then playing with a mouse.

Another possible bug. I was poisoned from a spider and before I cured myself, I made it to the hall of heros and went up to Wu Tse. When I clicked on her, she (while still in the mirror) started loosing life, and I started loosing a considerable more amount of life then I was poisoned at originally (11 Health per second+). Now, if I step in the hall of the pretender, I start to loose significant life, poisoned or not. I'll keep the log and save on standby, just in case.

Edit: This is indeed a SEVERE bug. I let Wu's life dwindle down while in her mirror and when she died, her mirror objects dropped to the floor (including her bones), and I could still click on the mirror and there would be another Wu in the old one's place. The new Wu would be in character position 3 instead of two, like when the old Wu died, she unofficially joined my team. I could get up to three of her swords if I wanted to.

Your problems sound like bugs to me.

Did you install to the laptop's hard drive?

No, I play it from my flash drive. My guess is that it's the new conflux version. The officer's canteen has no food like it's supposed to, and someone else already reported that as a bug.

Darn it. The links on page 1 are
inoperative.

Is there going to be an update in
the next couple of weeks?

Zyx: What kind of documentation
do you have for this thing? Are the
DSAs documented in Words? Are
the various quests documented in
Words? Are the words English?
The reason I ask is that I want to
ensure that anything about this
creation survives for a long time.

I would like there to be multiple resting
places for the code, the documentation,
and the binary. I would like to make
multiple copies of everything you have
and everything I have (CSBwin/CSBuild
code) and whatever tools were used and
put them all together and place the
result in several places.

This effort is too valuable to lose because
of some local disaster. It seems to have
become a very solid piece of software. At
least I don't hear people complaining of
crashes.

Links updated. anyway I'll try to make an update soon, to fix the random fizzling bug.
The DSA are very loosely documented in words. Most of them are in english. Absolutely no quest is documented, though I have some documents about the technical stuff that was necessary to create the dungeon.
Gambit is hosting maps at http://dmweb.free.fr/Stuff/conflux3maps/
As for walkthroughs, quests guides or others, it's up to the players to manage them.

I think ChristopheF could host a mirror in the Encyclopedia and Beowuuf another one in his DMjump site. Maybe you too. I never bothered because I'm still fixing bugs and never reached a finished state for CIII. People are still complaining about design bugs

Anyway, if someone wants to host a mirror, I'll gladly accept it.

It goes without saying I'll host conflux files and anything else for as long as I can on the dmjump webspace :)

I could host some stuff.

I have created an ftp area on my
desktop machine to contain everything
I can put my hands on that is relevant
to Conflux. All of my contributions
are in it now. It is surprising how many
little things I did to help support this
project.

Anyone can look at the directory with
ftp site: togos-dyn.ath.cx (port 21)
username: Conflux
password: xulfnoC

(No---I don't live on Christmas Island!)

If anyone will share their contributions
then I will provide a password (via email)
for uploading. I will only provide
download capability to anyone with
zyx's permission so as to avoid giving
away secrets.

My goal is to make sure that ten years
from now all the necessary pieces needed
to modify the game will be available.
I wager that somewhere in the world some
kid not yet in grade school will discover
this thing and want to understand/build upon
it. Look what happened with DM! Imagine
if the sources, artwork, and tools had been
available to us.

Hi all, just made a record for the 6 point speed competition and thought i might as well send my main game in as well for the regular competition. I think my speed game is around 2 minutes 8 seconds or so and I still have a long way to go in my main game.... It says to mail them to Zyx but i can't find his email anywhere so i mailed them to ConfluxII att yahoooo. dottt commmm. Hope they get through ok!

Edit: Just made another speed run of 1 minute 58 seconds. Will send it on.

Edit by Beowuuf: Altered the e-mail address incase it gets spammed

Congrats.

Paul, could I put the files necessary to playback Antman's record on your site? (8Mb)

The scorching whip is the item which doesn't give a competition point mentioned a page or two back. I'll mail an example to Conflux II atttt yahooooo dootttt commmmm

Loving the dungeon so far by the way! If only i could find the fireball spell or a compass or a million other items, all in due time i guess.

send them via EMail.
