I can be reached at gmail. you already know my user name :P

I need one day in there somewhere to use my ticket for the stonehenge/windsor castle/roman baths thingy.

pub will be interesting, though if they are like the ones here, dificult to speak at, as they do tend to get noisy. Though I can't think of anything else better.. :)

I want to try to have my cell working out there if I can manage it. Not sure the cost on that. If so though, I'll provide the temporary number here.

That's why I want to get a separate area, like you usually see stag nights or office parties gettign the use of a downstairs area for a night so you can be away from the usual jukebox

Pubs here went smoke-free too, so you won't have to return to the bad old days of smokey pubs either

And don't you have that all singing dancing telephone contract, or was that just your land line?

Oh, and I assume everyone knows it, but you can put Michael for my name just incase!

Well, as I notice you haven't written it, I can make the weekend too - I only work weekdays normally (hence why I had to find out if I could get the Thursday/Friday off). I'm free all day on all four of those days, and just intend to get the train up to London on each day, to Victoria, and then the Tube from there to wherever we're gonna be doing stuff. If someone can meet me at Victoria, though, that would be great as I'm not that keen on being in London by myself like that...
Going home, I'll just go back to Victoria (or maybe Waterloo if that's closer...I've got the train home from there before...) and get the first train back to Chatham...then I'd probably get a taxi home from there - it's only a half-hour walk which I normally have no problems with (eg coming home from work) but if it's getting late then bugger that, lol.
I'm probably being a bit paranoid about scary people, regarding the "meet me at the station" thing, but...well, I've never been to London by myself before, and no-one I know is coming with me (from home, I mean, lol) :P.
Oh, and obviously Ameena isn't my real name...my real name is Elana but I doubt I'll be calling anyone by their real name when we meet, so...;). And my e-mail address I think is listed in my profile. Anyway it's ekky84 and it's at hotmail. That's .com not .co.uk.
Err, right I think that's it. For now. Wow finally I will be spending money on something apart from travel to/from work :O.

Can you stop at clapham junction and swap from victoria to waterloo? Tah way, if you are coming in the evening, you, me and linflas can meet up in waterloo and onwards...perhaps...

Err...no, my train comes straight to Victoria (the stop previous to that is Bromley South)...if I know what time I'm supposed to be meeting you, then I can just look it up on the National Rail Enquiries webby and see which train arrives closest to that time...and then I'll probably get the one before that (even if that ends up being a slow train) so I'll guarantee that I'll be on time ;).

Well if we say seven thirty then I can even dump my stuff at home first I think (no packed bag being lugged around) and then chill for a bit before linflas gets off the train

Unless that is too late for everyone else?

Well, I'm sure I can be there for that time...gawd what time will that mean I'm going home then lol...wonder when the last train is...well, as long as I'm not travelling at some stupidly late time like 11pm (that's stupidly late as fasr as travelling is concerned, for me...). I dunno how long I'll be able to be around that evening, considering how long it'll take me to get home...

I feel bad that I haven't been more involved in this, but the timing is really bad with my new endeavours...

I am about to go away for the weekend back home. I can spare an hour or so on Monday looking for venues if that helps. I just need very specific instructions on what we need.

If we are looking for something in the Crystal Palace area, Ameena you don't need to come all the way into London.

Umm...as I have no idea where Crystal Palace is (I've heard of it but that's it), I probably do. It's only an hour (ish) on the train to Victoria and then I was just gonna get the Tube to wherever from there. I'll have an all-day Travelcard thing so I'll have unlimited Tube access all day (plus journey to/from London) for no extra cost, so...

Crystal palace area is right back out of london south/south east penge way

And Ga,bit, I'm off to india before the end of the week and have to get my visa sorted out, so you don't have to tell me about bad timing! I think the point was there was never going to be a good time that caught almost everyone :(

Anywya, a pub/resteraunt, Just simply a nice place with a downstairs/sectioned off area liek they sometimes do for private parties so we're not basically speaking over the regular crowd and listenign to terrible music, where we can simpyl relax and say hello to each other and chat and relax really

And ameena, sounds like you should go in earlier and get met by someone else then! That means that we wouldn't be saying 'ehllo' to peope til after 8

For Friday, the Queens hotel is the one that keeps coming up in web searches. Maybe not good if we wanted a room (though cheap) but the sound of the conference room is nice. With one tiny exceptiion - no internet!

The buffet provided would either be light food or curriy food, but then can always eat out of resteraunt or walk outside since apparently the area is good for that

Room for 15 people so should cover us size wise

it's http://www.apartotels.com/ApartmentInfo.asp?Code=7030
at
http://maps.google.co.uk/
122 Church Road, Crystal Palace, SE19 2UG, London

The price for the room is stupidly light to what I'd expect, so especially if it's just a room for us all to be, leave our cool valuable DM stuff and general valuables in, and spend only a few hours at a time doing DM stuff between enjoyign the surroundings or whatever, then it might be ok

Gambit, is this close to your side of penge so you can quickly nip out duirng a break or for a half day without inconvienience?

Also, is it close enough for you to take a look at even?

Anywya, there was another one I saw with hi speed net that sounded good - of course, I can't find that one again since my computer crashed with the website still up :(

Anyway, i've shpped for india, phoned that place and looked a t a few sites - will head out for a little while then come back to check out pubs I guess and see if anyone has any opinions!

Well, if there's anyone up for it, I'm happy to go into London at some point during the day and meet up before the "proper" meet in the evening. I think what I might do is decide how I'm getting home before I actually go up there, though. Once the actual venue is decided, could oyu let me know which station (Tube or otherwise) is closest to it so I can see if there's a train passes through there headed my way? Even if there's not one goes straight to Chatham, maybe (if it's southeasterly-ish) I can get one to Bromley or something and change...
Anyway, looking up the trains is the easy part, once I know where the station will be that I'm travelling from ;).
And that room thing sounds cool, Wuffy - just somewhere quiet we can sit on our arses and chat and stuff. As you mentioned DM stuff, all I have that I can think of (apart from no-longer-working Atari disks of course) is my CSB map and coin, but most people seem to have one of those already. Still, I can bring 'em if anyone's interested ;).

Hi all. I got the email, thanks Lunever and thanks to those of you making efforts to get this sorted.

I'm sorry that I have not been able to be involved in sorting this out, things have been incredibly busy for me recently. I'm still doubtful that I will be able to come out on the Friday; however, that depends on how many of you want to meet up over the weekend? If people are around on Sat/Sun, I have the weekend free.

It's possible that I could do some work on the Sunday and instead take some time off on Friday to come to the hotel -- it's really not far from me at all. Psycholigically, working at the weekend isn't good for me though! ;-) I am currently on a fixed fee job that should be two weeks work; however, based on today it looks like it will take me longer which means a) I don't really want to take time off in the working week and b) I will lose money.

As I said before, despite it being our main 'common ground' I'm not really interested in the DM aspect of this; but I am keen to meet up with whoever makes it for general getting to know you socialising, etc.

So, I will review how my work has gone this week, and if by Friday I feel it's going well, I might come to the conference room in the afternoon. Otherwise, just call me and we'll meet up over the weekend.

As for Thursday night, I can probably meet whoever is here. What's the plan there?

Gambit: Thursday the plan is having a nice evening in a pub. We just still don't know what pub. Any suggestions?
