I'm still a newbie to London and don't really know the pubs yet. Do you mean you want one in town? There is one that I know that is OK, it's near charing cross station.

I don't know the London geography, but maybe a pub not too far from Waterloo station, since some of us arrive there?

linflas - As I said, I come in at waterloo, and have to leave from work too - so if someone else can meet at ameena warlier then good, otherwise it will be a case of jumping from waterloo to victoria on two tubes then back again!

The point of the meeting was that a non-regular suggested it, and if more non-regulars want to come it will of course be for DM. If it ends up bieng just the group above, then I guess it's up to everyone what they want to do but I assume it won't be DM based , I'm sure it will more apart from drifting conversation and the conference room will just be a good base to leave all our stuff in and come back to while we do other things

Thursday - as you can see by the e-mail, the plan is unchanged, jsut the venue isn't picked. There's just too much uncertainty chosing from the web especially sicne I know nothing about London and it's unreasonable to pick somewhre too far fro mthe city centre where the good areas are.

However, I decided, and I thought it was reasonable, that if the search gets limited to around victoria station, then it means ameena is much free-er to come and go. So I will search there

Zyx - just saw you post. I thought that, but I don't recall any pubs aroudn waterloo when I've came in, - it has the imax and is close to the river.

Actually, ameena, you are welcome to crash here overnight if you like, which gives you more free time. That way that would mean waterloo would be a bettre station. Thoguh as said, I forget what is actually around.

I guess I shall search for both! Or if it's close to waterloo as a decision, if someone says it soon,I oculd toy with the idea of leaving now.

Ameena, we will be able to meet you at waterloo - or wherever you want - thursday. Tell me at what time and we'll wait for you.

OK, I need to read back over the whole threads to see who's doing what. I can probably meet people to make things easier but have no idea who is doing what, it's all passed me by until now.... :)

The only pub in know near Victoria is the Stage Door and it's not really nice enough to take people to. I'll have a look for one.

ameena comes in at victoria, and leaves fro mthere I believe - hence basing it at voctoria :D

I'd prefer a nice pub (money no option within reason) where there would be a separate ara we could reserve like they do for office thigns or hen nights, etc

I assume ten people should be enough to warrant that!

oh, and gmabit, you aren't missing much - no one really is organising anything!

thursday - we need a pub, I'm the one about to check for that on the net (though i'd like to shower first!) and then go to london tomorrow unless you can scout them out better

friday - queens booked (shit, still need to get away from comp to phone them and get the confirmation e-mail i was supposed to get last night - there we go, he was 'just about to send it' so it's all good)

Obviously i'm not aroudn the weekend, so have no hand in that one - I guess we can plan that one on friday!

Hey, Zyx that's cool :D. If don't really mind what time during the day but if you fancied doing some stuff before we meet everyone else (no idea what) then maybe earlier during the day would be good. I would suggest not much earlier than maybe midday, 'cause then I get a bit of a lie-in at least ;). Whatever time is good for you, I can look it up on the Net if I don't know it already. Actually, thinking about it, I probably could make Waterloo, since the Charing Cross train stops there. I don't think I've ever got the train to Waterloo but I've got it back from there a few times. Maybe if you PM me about it, then we can come to some arrangement regadring meeting :).
Wuffy - if "here" is Basingstoke...err, that's a bit far lol. My sister and I went there a couple of years back (to stay with our aunt) and I'm sure it took a couple of hours...had to go something like Chatham to Victoria to Clapham Junction to Basingstoke. And I'd have to get another ticket, which would be more complicated and cost me more money (not that I can complain since I know various people are probably spending waaay more than that to come from whatever country ;)). Don't worry...I'll just try not to get the train too late (maybe I'll look up an ideal train on the Net before I go and then try and get to whichever station I need in time to catch it), and then probably just get a taxi from the station. Or maybe I could ask my friend really nicely if she could pick me up....

Suule: Oh, that's a shame :( You haven't missed it though, it's Thursday / Friday if some freak chance occurs and you can make it!

Ameena: Eh, basingstoke is not far, and has regular trains. Unless you take the henhouse doghouse train that stops everywhere, it's only a 40 minute ride from Waterloo to Basingstoke, and my house is about 10 minutes form the station to walk.

Anyway, thought I'd offer since it would suck if you had to leave early on the thursday just to make all your connections, and I have a sleeping bag to slep in anyway since I had to get one for india :D

I think if you are fine with it and can get home from waterloo, gambit and I will then look exclusively at the Waterloo area - I was holding on to victoria just to make it easier for you to get home while squeezing in as much 'hello people' time as possible in the evening!

Oh, and linflas passed it onto me, but it really needs to go to someone else.

If someone could use linflas's travel voucher to pick up his keys during thursday afternoon, then he can come to the pub thursday evening when he gets off the train!

And if anyone can meet cows wednesday morning incase his room isn't ready til three, he would probably be happy too (he can confirm that one I guess!)

What is this voucher for? Where is the hotel? If it's reasonably close, I might be able to pick it up, but if it's on the other side of London, it'll be at least a 2 hour round trip which I can't spare on Thursday.

Hmm...looking up trains from Waterloo East (no idea how far that is from plain Waterloo...are they right next to each other or something?) to Chatham...they go every kinda half-hour-ish which is okay...and they take around an hour and ten mins to arrive in Chatham. That's only slightly longer than if I got the train from Victoria (which takes about an hour if it's a fast service...which I'm not sure runs at that time of night anyway). I'm looking at trains that go around 8-9pm-ish. Meh. I expect I'll manage...
Getting up there is less hassle, at least...just need to sort out meeting Zyx or whoever at Victoria (or Waterloo East if I end up getting one of those trains...gimme a time to be there and I'll look up a train which arrives somewhere around that time).
You wouldn't've thought it'd be such an arse trying to sort out a simple trip to/from London, lol. If anyone I knew (in RL that is, not on the Net, obviously) was going to this thing, it'd make it sooo much easier since I'd have a permanent "escort" and someone to moan with if we smeg up our travelling, lol.

Linflas: How exactly are the details with the voucher? I'm used to pay upon arrival, and since I hardly can afford my own B&B I couldn't pay for you, not even temporary for a couple of hours. Did you actually check with your hotel whether someone else can check in for you? Uh, and where exactly is your hotel?

Since we will at best decide today what exactly we are doing thursday before meeting I cannot promise yet we can take it for you, but if it's possible we might get your key. So since I still don't know, best would be if you emailed your voucher to all 9 people included on the list, because in Safadias flat I don't have a printer and will only once today rather soon be in my place to get my passport.

As an alternative: Did you ask your hotel whether checking late at night is possible?

Ok, we'll see if we join you.

I'm bery busy right now and I don't have the time to read everything when I get back from work.

Could someone start a thread summarizing the yet uncovered needs?
Like Linflas needing somebody to take care of the voucher (maybe we can, we have to check how far is the hotel), or being met at 8pm at victoria?

i will arrive at waterloo at 8pm : i must have my key before the reception closing, and i don't know when it will be closed.
beo proposed me to get the key for me during the afternoon, so that i go directly to the pub and am not worried for my room.

otherwise, i go to the hotel by taxi, get my key and come back to the pub.

finally, all that can be done to gain some party time for me, but it's absolutely not necessary. if the hotel is too far (Thornton Heath), let's forget about it.
