Zyx is obviously joking, the signs are obvious. Really, conflux is a wonderful dungeon more like this.

Start
You fall down a pit and live
You choose a champion
You press a button and die by munchers
You restart
You fall down a pit and live
You choose a champion
You don't press the button
You walk downstairs and get chased around in the dark and bitten by vicious powerful monsters
You realised you are poisoned
You fail to find a torch
You fall down a pit you couldn't see because you were being chased, have no torch, and were worried about the poisoning so early in the game without an anti-venom spell
You are barely alive, and a monster bits you
You realise you are poisoned more
Another monster comes at you
You are very injured and cannot run
You waddle away throwing random items from the floor at the monster
You wonder why there are so many pretty flowers, and if they will do enough damage for the monster to leave you alone. You hope stone mushrooms are heavy enough to inflict some major damage.
You realise the poisoning is goign to kill you and you wonder where the flasks are
You fall down a pit breaking your remaining limbs
You find a torch, and look around the breathtaking wonderful lower level and realise that there are many, many much wonderful things to see and do in conflux, if only you can resolve the basic lack of movement, hunger and light
You walk forward and fall down a pit there was no way you could see
A monster that should have no offensive abilities rusts and breaks your weapons. Then poisons you. Then throws spells at your barely breathing corpse
Your character dies
You die a little inside
You type a complaint about conflux being 'too hard' on the forum
Zyx laughs
You find Antman's recordings
You cry
Zyx laughs
You restart
You fall down a pit and live
You choose a champion
You press the button and munchers kill you
You restart
You fall down a pit and live
You choose a champion
You press the button and munchers kill you

It's basically that intricate structure that's involved :D

I quess i must try this Conflux III, sounds like the time when i played CSB the 1st time after DM. Reincarnate, play, woot, worms! kick em! die. restart...

There is some truth to this, except that CIII doesn't make you fight straight off the bat. The little corner where you start is safe and remains more or less safe for most of the game. It has water, room to store stuff, and hardly ever any monsters (when it does, they tend to be gigglers, don't leave your surplus on the floor!) It's a nice little safe base you can periodically return to and from which you can launch into forays to the lower levels. If you are careful, you can use it to fall back to when you get too badly injured, too. Assuming you know a way back and it's not packed to the ceiling with monsters...

I think "fall back to" is a very, very operative term in Conflux...yes, plenty of falling, certainly...

Parallax forgot the priests (unless that has changed).

And the munchers if you press the button

Much safer is the store rooms area (though you need light)

Yeah, the damn priests in the guild hall...
When I saw how Antman disposed of them I was so dismayed :shock:

For the gigglers, I found two very efficient way to counter the thieves in the guild hall :
- I closed the pit in the ninja hall blocks some intrusions.
- I littered the hall with so many lousy items that they seem complied to pick up too much items,
and a gigglers dies when it picks up too many items (yes, it DIES !)

The antman record is just frightening, because that's where you realize there is so much to Conflux3 : tricks for every situation (see the altar of rose !), different quest orders depending on what you want to build up first, secrets, shortcuts, and skill required at fireball dodging.

Anyway, I know why I kept dying with the maleficient guild now : it shouldn't be played with more than one character ! (though unlike Antman I would still give a go to the altar of rebirth in the beginning for my leader in order to get some better stats)

How did I dispose of those vexirks? I thought I just let them teleport away?
I don't think I ever saw a giggler die of getting too many items, even in the sewers where there's gazillions of snap dragons.

That's the thing with complex dungeons, the more complex they are, the more tricks there are to be exploited.
Yup, I think the Maleficient Guild would be virtually impossible with four characters. What stats are actually increased when you use the altar of rebirth? Just mana, health and stamina is it?

Anyway, is there actually going to be a conflux 4?

Nah, I imagine no clonflux 4, it was a joke

Hadn't looked at your run! Only one malk guild? That is sneaky and brave! My run was with four people

Only health increases with VI altar usage to 25

The trick is to gain no levels before you get to the vi altar so you can capitalise on all the health boost you can. That's quite a trick, given the rat in the way! Judicious use of party rotation and luck is called for I found!

And maybe a 3.2 in 10 years or so.

Just saw this. Is the current version 3.1?

I'd like to see one of those Gigglers die 'before my very eyes' by picking up 'one more item' (those greedy little guys).
