Hi all !

I'll be back ... Real soon !
(read out loud with a deep disquieting alien voice)

Since I'm checking the forums a lot more these days
(from my job  ), let's give some news :
I'm still working, I'm in Lyon, France
(beautiful city, 2h by train from Paris)
and I'm still a geeky fan of DM, CSB & Conflux.
My DSB project are stopped, but I'll resume activity as soon as I get a computer, and the internet.
Sidenote: I've got an awesome idea for a dungeon for DSB...

I've got a small question : I want to buy a laptop, mainly for gaming, I hate Vista and would like to have a typical WinXP (for games, if it still works) + Ubuntu (for geekery)
The typical problem is : will I be able to play Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 and Spore on a WinXP computer ?

if anyone has bought a laptop recently I'm interested in any advice !

à bientôt !

Hmm, I would really consider to bite the bullet and
go with Vista.. normally you got dx10 support, but
if you got a laptop, it probably? won't be that fast
anyway, so uum, yeah, just my 2pence..

If you want full fancy graphics goodness for modern new games (Crysis for example), you need DX10, which is Vista only.

If you're not bothered about that, then XP will be fine. Bear in mind XP only recognises up to 3GB RAM -- if you want more, you also need Vista (or Linux!)

I can't advise on laptops, I've not had one before. But I'm now in the same position as you...

Thanks for the fast reply...

Well, for DX10, it seems Dwarf Fortress, DSB, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 won't use it, so I'm ok without it.
The 3GB ram limit is a bigger problem, though.

Anyway, I'm glad those forums are alive and kicking !
