Anyone remember these? They're tools to allow upscaling of pixel art. The author's site is down, so I was wondering if anyone has a copy they could send me? Many thanks!

I did look at it, but I don't think I downloaded it. Can't see it on my HD I'm afraid!

I assume that when you upsize pixel art the normal algorithyms causes the squares to 'bleed' into one another, causing a more fuzzy transition between the squares?

actually these are meant to NOT do that according to posts I just read regarding it.. They say they remain crisp.. but images supposedly using it tell me different as they often looked soft and lest defined.. :P So I don't know what's so special about them..

I found hq4x on my backup. I tried it on the low res gorilla from the Bloodbane thread. It looks pants.

I think these filters only work well on images with very stark blocks of colour and contrast changes. No good for subtle sprites IMHO.

There are a few of these (mostly ad-hoc) filters for performing integer N times upsampling: description here.

Another is: Scale2x.

I'd be curious what Paul's and/or Sophia's clones would look like with one of these. (wink! wink!)
