My brain survived, but was not nourished in any way either!

Was it THAT mediocre? Or was it all FX and no plot?

All FX and basic plot. It's pretty much the standard movie franchise movie now. Set up the characters (add flashbacks and conflicts as needed), have a little bit of a training montage, blow the heck out of a heck of a lot of things. The plot at least had a few points to it, but like the name suggests (Rise of Cobra) it's mostly about setting up cobra by the end.

It is literally mediocre - neither good nor bad, just existing as a watchable thing. Pretty much the same as Transformers, with a touch more character beats.

Well, me guess that me is using my Gold-Class Movie Pass to see Harry Potter instead. I was debating whether to see G.I. Joe... but, it sounds like I hoped it wouldn't be.

GI Joe is a good action movie (basic story, nice FX, hot girls) that you will see probably once in your life. To watch that kind of movie, i *always* choose cinema with big screen, big sound and eventually polarized 3D glasses :)
I also followed that rule for Godzilla, I am legend, Transformers, I Robot, Wanted, Max Payne, Doom, Wing Commander and lots of "no so good" movies. But if I hadn't followed it, i wouldn't have watched at best conditions awesome movies like Starship Troopers or recently Watchmen for example.

I've been a GI Joe fan since I was a kid. I was really excited to hear that Ray Park was playing my favourite character Snake Eyes! I was even lucky enough to meet him at The Fan Expo this past summer!
