RE: Vorpal Blade.
You have to be at least a Journeyman Wizard to use the 'disrupt' feature of this blade.
Also, the completed Firestaff can be used to up the early Wizard levels faster.
That presumes that one has taken 'less than four' characters to complete it.

The errm...Pendant Feral, I think it is, gives you a Wizzy level as well, so is worth having as well. I know that the completed Firestaff gives you two Wizzy levels, but out of curiosity, does the incomplete Firestaff give you anything? I never use it without the Power Gem attached so I've never noticed...

The complete firestaff gives you two of everything, the incomplete gives you one of everything

Two of everything? Surely not...I was sure it only gave Wizard levels...

No, beo's right. The Firestaff gives one level in every class when incomplete, two when merged with the power gem.

This reminds me of some screen shots I took during my last solo run.

Wow, how come I never noticed anything except the Wizard levels, lol.
Banky, those images aren't showing. I just see the word "Image" twice, either of which are links or anything...

Odd, I saw them before, and now I can't see them either. Maybe the link is temporarily down, or only serves a number of times.

The link is down, apparently. They're not links but if you right-click the "Image" text and choose "View Image" it says "Not Found."
Re: Go deep or fight?
I never use the firestaff or pendant feral when training (though the firestaff is useful for quick wizard levels to start) as having the extra levels makes it harder to gain levels!
This is especially so in RTC where there is no level 'deepness'.

Re: Go deep or fight?
I think the level gain is independant of what you wear, isnt it? I certainly kept gaining levels even when being archmaster holding a firestaff+

Re: Go deep or fight?
Do you get more experience points, if you use the firestaff, than you would using a vorpal blade?
I also wonder if any of the spells from the firestaff are priest related?
I may be able to figure most of that out on the Dungeon Master Encyclopedia.

The non-power gem firestaff is priest related (brandish, etc) the power gem firestaff is wizard related

Thanks. Too bad I didn't ask before I had completed the firestaff.beowuuf wrote:The non-power gem firestaff is priest related (brandish, etc) the power gem firestaff is wizard related
Oh well, I may eventually try it for leveling up my wizard levels.
I noticed I could keep using the firestaff, even when my mana was almost gone.
I get tired of sleeping
