Well, I didn't know where to put this... but my favourite singer, Cesária Évora (Cabo Verde), has died today (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-16232543). :( R.I.P., diva dos pés descalços! Her songs are definitely going to be in my head today.

@cows:
erm - the last link I gave to you...
two months ago, and at least here in germany it ruled.
but those canadians here - they really shouldn't walk off the earth:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9NF2edxy-M
When you haven't seen it yet - you're really late!
just watch all of them - and count the people in that one twice:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td1up2Dd ... re=related

btw - I'm really pissed that they already locked their vids of the beatles-covers because of copyright here in germany.
while our cancellor is proud having not signed the acta-treaties... pfft.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCFVEvZvo3g is currently stuck in my head. I don't know why, I haven't watched it for ages. But perhaps it's a good time to watch an episode or two - I've got many of them on DVDs. :)

I seem to have a nostalgia surge. I just loved those two series as a kid - well, these were basically the only two Western action series allowed / aired in communist Czechoslovakia. (*)

It's interesting that all these things start with a car hitting something and broking glass. :)

- - - - - - - - -

(*) All the political episodes where the villans are from the East were, of course, left out.

Even if you paid me I could not have recalled the theme music for the show, so it's odd to see the opening credits again! Still recognise Michael Brandon instantly whenever he appears in things. I remembere him last from a Jonothan Creek episode...

What year was this? I don't remeber this show but I always used to watch this kinda stuff with my dad in the early 80s. So its weird that I missed it.

And if they only allowed Western action shows/episodes without bad guys from the East that musta cut out like 99.9% of everything. Cuz it seems like those 80s cop/detective/agent shows ALWAYS had some "evil commie" running around with a really bad Russian accent and like trying to blow up the subway and/or kidnap the hero's girl.

The Professionals: 1977-83 (Czechoslovakia: 1981-88)

Dempsey and Makepeace: 1984-86 (Czechoslovakia: ??? end of 80s)

No, they cut only something like 30 %.

In one of the episodes of The Professionals, the bad guy uses en "export" version of the Czechoslovak Škoda 120 car (except he was reported to be Bulgarian or something, but meh). Of course, this episode was among the 30 %.

It was actually a British show, just it had an American in it (that was part of the dynamic).

3.7 to Alpha-Charlie, I think we are hijacking this thread. Could you move this conversation elsewhere, Alpha? 3.7, out.

The discussion on the new Hobbit film elsewhere somehow reminded me the soundtracks of the old Rankin-Bass animated Hobbit / TRotK films.

Two songs stuck in my head today:

WTF is this "Gangnam style"? Haven't you misspelt it or is it just a random string of letters?
