OOC - Ah, I was aiming to have her remember that she just met Chaos and got booted back here by him. So she just gets scary red eyes and black shadows and not much else then, but otherwise her future memories are those of the first run of the adventure and end with her and the others getting thrown back and so she will assume that where she is now is where she's been sent as a result of the actions of Grey/Chaos?
Meanwhile, is the crack only scary if she's looking at it, or can she stand near it without fear as long as she keeps it out of her line of sight (not difficult since she's not standing upright
)? And which square(s) of the map is/are the crack over?
BIC - Ameena shakes her head. Hmm...yes...something about...someone. A human? A human wearing grey...or was he? Did he have blue eyes, or red? Something was happening to him, and he did something...yes! A magic-user of some kind, she recalls. He did something and threw everyone back. She remembers flying through the air and then...and now she's here? But where are...
The others! Are they alright? Maybe they were...no, she thinks, they must be
somewhere. If she's ended up here, maybe they ended up somewhere else - maybe her foreleg hurts because she bashed it against the wall before the magic moved her here. Wherever "here" is. Maybe it's somewhere they've been. Why is it so difficult to remember? Must be some kind of side-effect of the magic. It knocked her full self, body, mind, and spirit, elsewhere, and they haven't all
quite landed in the same place. Or something like that, anyway. So her head is a bit strange right now.
She looks around, careful to avoid glancing up at the crack in the ceiling. Maybe she can work out where she is, whether it's some way they came earlier in their travels. She wonders where the glow is coming from - it seems to be following her, almost as though
she is glowing. Maybe she is. Maybe it's another aftereffect of the magic, though she doesn't see why something that moves someone to someone else will also make them glow. Then again, magic is one of the many things in the world that she hasn't really got round to properly learning about yet - this might be perfectly normal. Still, it doesn't hurt, and it's helping somewhat since it means she doesn't have to find her way by whiskertouch alone -
that would make things a little slower. She notices it seems to be gradually fading, so she supposes she'd better get a look around quickly before it's completely gone.
So she does.
She ensures that she avoids looking in the direction of the crack in the ceiling, though she doesn't understand why she finds it so terrifying - it's just a crack in the ceiling. It doesn't seem as though the place is going to cave in at any moment. She supposes it's magic, but doesn't see much point in it. Then again, she thinks, maybe it's to repel intruders or something - maybe it's a weapon the local predators use against their prey, leaving these cracks lying around as traps to scare them into running away and being caught and eaten, or something.
Local predators? Ameena sniffs the air again. Those rats. The
other rats. (OOC - If I get this description wrong, let me know
) Not
true rats, but not murafu either. Not sentient, it seems. But hostile. Aggressive. Uncommunicative. Social? Possibly, but only with each other. Hungry? Very, apparently. She recalls trying to communicate with them, using every bit of rodent language, verbal and otherwise, that she knows, but having no luck - all they seemed to know what to do was attack, try to kill. She remembers the others fighting with them.
Eating them, even. At least, Haynuus seemed to enjoy it. So many creatures down here, different species, so many aggressive. So many fights, when escape seemed otherwise impossible. Fighting for their lives, and...
Wait.
Who?
Hay-what?
Hay
nuus! Yes!
She remembers the half-orc, somehow clumsily friendly, often mistakenly believed to be lacking in intelligence, yet having plenty enough to know when to speak and when to stay quiet, how to help a friend, and to be one. How to swing a sword. Or a club. Or a torch. Or...well, anything that could be swung. Swang.
Ameena's whiskers give a faint twitch of amusement as she remembers.
But what about the others?
One was something to do with...the wind? She remembers people talking about...no, directions. North wind? Sou...no...west! West wind! Westy...something. Westy...what? Westy...yan? Westian! Human! No. Elf. No. Wait. Yes. No. Elf. Elf? Human.
Half-elf! And half-human. Made potions. Made everyone feel better. Yes, now she remembers. Liked to talk. Liked to talk about things he knew about and other people didn't. Held a few conversations with Ameena herself, she recalls. Well, she talked with them all, of course, during their travels.
And there was another.
Ah yes, of course, the one nearest herself in height - a halfling. Fowcaw. Falk. Falcaw. Kor. Falkor. Yes, that was it - Falkor. Wasn't so bad. LIked to think about things. Similar to Westian, in some ways. Yes, magic, that was it - he used magic too, but in a different way. Ameena well rememebers how much she flinched the first time she saw Falkor throw a ball of
fire through the air at something. Someone? She can't remember - that part is still vague. She remembers him doing other things, too, but can't quite focus fully on them at this time. But that's alright - she supposes it will all come back to her when this magic has faded.
She remembers travelling with them. She remembers they were there, with her, in that room, not so long ago, when they were all thrown back by the power of that...mage? Hmm...that will need more thought, she supposes.
But her friends. Where are they now? She supposes they've each ended up in a different location. But where? Nearby? There's no immediate scent of anyone on the air, just that of the large and aggressive rat-creatures. Well, at least it's clear enough what she should be doing. But how? How should she go about looking for them when she has no idea where to start?
Well, no, that's not quite right. SHe
has somewhere to start - right here. She's just not sure which direction she should start moving in.
She looks around. Hmm. Doors.
She looks up a bit. Kee-holes.
She looks up a bit more. Oops. Mistake.
She scoots back to the corner to recover for a moment, keeping her eyes on the floor.
Then she slowly moves over to sniff at the base of the nearest door and see what she can detect. Might as well start somewhere...
OOC - Wheee, that ended up being rather long. Think that just ended up being me setting myself as to where Ameena is right now (mentally, I mean), giving her a "base of operations", as it were, so I know where her memories are at present in order to get her thinking processes back up to speed, as well as settign in place her justifications for stuff like her present location and the pain in her foreleg. And now I'll go and alter that previous post to account for the Scary Scary Ceiling
.
Oh, no, wait, one more thing...Perception check for the new looking-and-sniffing at the door = 21 (12+9)
.
