A new gamebook illustrations

I've started penciling (again) a french amateur gamebook, it's a collective work written in 2006 and they plan to publish it for themselves on lulu.com. There were original illustrations but not very suitable for a paper version. Title can be translated "Return to Scorpion Swamp"... Yes, some of you know the original gamebook by Steve Jackson (the guy behind "Munchkin" card games and many more).
This time, you are the daughter of the original hero and you enter the dangerous Swamp to get fame, become rich and so on. There still have 3 quests : good, neutral and evil. And it's a very huge book, more than 1000 sections !

Mmmmm, yummy, I love your style. So evocative of Iain McCaig or Alan Langford. Can't wait to see more of your work!

One day, when I'm able to self-fund my own gamebook, I'll commission you to do the illustrations :-)

Wait, Steve Jackon did Scorpion Swamp, being a different Steve Jackson to the actual games workshop/main FF Steven Jackson? Cool.

Anywya, more importantly, very nice work!

thanks for the feedback :) i hope this project will be achieved. at the moment, we have a little debate about the fact that i "enhance" someone else's artwork..

I could see how that would be a problem, what with copyright laws and such...

Of course, asking the original artist/copyright holder for written permission to modify and use their art could solve this problem, or doing something similar but original for the final product.

Exactly. First problem is that the main artist can't be joined anymore. He has left the gamebook forums for several years...
Second problem is that one of the writers wants to keep the original artwork on the final book. She accepts additional illustrations from me but no modification, not even a pixel, to the existing illustrations. Other writers try to convince her that my enhancement offers a better Fighting Fantasy feel than the originals. We'll see..

A new one made yesterday. Don't hesitate to give feedback or critics on something that may look wrong.

That's some good artwork, the goblin look quite sinister, which is, I'm assuming, your intention.

Seriously and Unserious give it:

These are great, really great :-)

One thing I noticed on the goblin is that his right leg seems a bit awkward compared to the left leg and doesn't quite seem to join his body in the right place? Perhaps it's just the angle he's standing it, I'm not sure?

Thanks ! that's a point i haven't noticed. I've played too much with "tranform" on several parts of his body and now, that leg looks definitely strange. i'm gonna correct this.

By the way, I mean his *actual* right leg (on the left of the picture), not the one on our right, which would be *his* left....

Awesome and atmospheric. Nicely old skoooool too. I don't think that qualifies as constructive criticism, but hey!

I are most jealous of your companions :)
