CSB Chaos Strikes Back on modern Mac?

Hi all,

Having just completed Dungeon Master, I would love to also play Chaos Strikes Back. The problem (apparently) is that I have a Mac. I was able to get DM to work by downloading the PC (MS DOS) version of DM from dmweb.free.fr and running that in Boxer, which worked fine. But there doesn't seem to be a DOS version of CSB, so that route doesn't work. The Windows version of CSB is available at that dmweb site but again I can't run that in a DOS emulator. The same website also has a Mac version but that only runs on old PowerPC Macs, so again no luck.

Does anyone have any other ideas how to run CSB on a modern Mac, or am I out of luck?

I think your only option is to use an emulator for the Atari ST or Amiga. I don't have a Mac and never tested this.
For example you can download the Amiga version of CSB here: http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/591#toc18
And FS-UAE emulator is available for Macinotsh here: https://fs-uae.net/download#macosx

I wasn't able to get an Amiga emulator to work, but I did have success with an Atari ST emulator. Here's the process in case useful for anyone else:

- There's a great Youtube tutorial here, so I simply followed that. This is for the Hatari emulator:

- I got the CSB image for Atari ST downloading the CSB-Game-AtariST.rar image here:

- This apparently gets you various versions of CSB (the download contains a number of folders) - I used this one:
Chaos Strikes Back for Atari ST version 2.0 (English), Updated hacked hard disk version
So I placed the folder for that one into the Hatari Ataris ST hard disk folder (see the Youtube video)
- Then you need to run the "game" file to select heroes, then save and restart with the "utility" file, then restart again with the "game" file and select resume to start the game proper with the selected heroes.

Very exciting, plus with this emulator I can get stuck into all those other lovely ancient Atari games!
