The fake pit between Ku and Ros - bug or intentional?

As many of you know, there is a shortcut to get the Ros corbum from Ku or vice versa.

Do you think this was intentionally done by the developers, or is it a bug in the dungeon. Meynaf certainly thinks it's the latter, so he removed it.

When I asked what makes him so sure it's a bug instead of intentional, he replied:
"Well, if they allow skipping one of the ways, why ku and no other ? This makes no sense to me."

I'm not sure how to respond to that.

Have any of the original CSB developers ever chimed in on this in the past?

I doubt we will ever know.

I think it is intentional.

To give more ways to complete the game.
It did happen to me. I was enable to enter Ku because I managed to kill the four knights fighing toe to toe, not moving backward which is the normal way to enter Ku.
So, I visited Ku, thanks to the fake pit at the corbum pillar, going down as far as the normal entrance where I had killed the four knights.

I think, the designers of the game played a good joke on me.

Wait a minute, how did you manage to open the wall in the dragon den when going the opposite way? As far as I'm aware, that wall can only be opened from one side with the powertowers.

I am pretty sure I did.
That was very long ago, but I do remember a bunch of dragons and the powertowers.
May be I got stuck on the way down, then entered Ku later the right way from a saved game.

I spent more than two months in this dungeon completing the game whitout any hint or clue, but the hint oracle.

completing the game whithout any hint or clue, but the hint oracle.
Impressive. I doubt many people can say that they have done this.
I remember I got as far as the DDD before my Atari died. Even that
was mostly an accident as I was attempting to map the lower levels.

My dad and I both managed to finish the game "back in the day", with the Hint Oracle as our only guide too. Meanwhile for the much easier DM we had the hintbook thing :D

Beginning CSB was extremely difficult to me.
Working with paper pencil and eraser scissors and scotch tape, I had many map parts I was not able to assemble.
I was completely lost because of the silent trigger pads at the four way junction.
It took me ages to figure out how to paste together my small parts of maps.
Once the small parts began to fit together, then things went quite smoothly.
The DDD, was not easy going. While stuck at attempts to pass the DDD, I had full maps of the level below, no trouble to find my way in the low levels.
Beyond the DDD was quite easy because of a solid base to map the upper levels. Simply tedious. All was visited, investigated with all tricks to defeat Chaos tricks, see through wall, locate silent trigger pads and all. Fights with creatures were not much of a problem.
I keep all my maps of this great dungeon.
