Hi all Dungeon Master fans!

After finishing this amasing game for so many times I started to have a dream. I wish to create something as good as was this game. After several attempts I failed. I try it again and failed again. Now, I think, my life give me an opportunity to create this game.

Features:
- 2D environment (RTC dimensions)
- Cowsmanauts tile sets
- One dungeon can u use n tilesets
- Based on condition and effects
- Highly configurable
- Almost nothing hardcoded
- Opensourced (as soon as initial code will be almost completed(too many changes in code cannot work with many members))
- Any object can be linked to another object.
- Animated objects(Walls, floor items, wall items, items, ...)

Technology:
- XNA for display
- C# for logic
- Windows as platform

Credits:
Programming
- Mystic_Unicorn (Martin Drška)

Graphics
- David Gervais (http://pousse.rapiere.free.fr/tome/index.htm)
- Francois Munos
- Cowsmanaut

Still. But i changed programming language so there is a delay. :( from delphi to C++.
The game will be in opengl but with all nostalgia features, like square walking.....and with opengl there will be more possibilities for effects.....teleports, spells,.....

I create the game I want to play. :)

I hope everyone is going to the site

You can add me too i u feel free for some good ideas. Why so many people create so many clones? Lets make one and realy good!

Because different people have different ideas about what is good. And if we would stick to the one-clone-philosophy, shouldn't you join CSBWin or RTC instead of creating Deep Cave? But even if there was that much of agreement and team work, you wouldn't do so, I suppose, because you probably invested a lot of work and time and ideas into Deep Cave, else it wouldn't exist, right?

So although I like RTC most, I'm glad that there are several people making their ideas come true.

Balance is the ultimate good!

It's an everlasting discussion. Although one clone might be much more powerful than 10 or 20, each has it's own style, quirks and surprises, not to mention fans and opponents.

I'm favoring RTC and CSBwin personally, but that's just my taste. Keep up the multifold styles - chaos rules ;)

"Chaos is always found in greatest abundance, where Order is being sought. Chaos always defeats Order because it is simply better organized." (from "Interesting Times" by Terry Pratchett)

Deep cave basic engine test

Posted: Thu Apr 03, 2003 9:27 pm
by Mystic_Unicorn
at this adress: http://deepcave.wz.cz/download/EngineTest.rar u can download engine test.
Please tell me your problems or your FPS or anything interesting.
There are some controls:

<F1> FULLSCREEN
<F2> WIREFRAME
<F3> SemiTransparent walls
<F4> Lights on/off
<Arrows> movement

it is important to wait one or two sec after execution. Do not move at this time. u can create your own maps very easily. Edit default.txt in convertor directory and launch MapConvertor.Exe. U must remember that Wall=any leter; space=' ' <= <SPACE>.

That's terrible. Did anyone else have the source code, was there a download for it?

That sounds really awful. Is really everything gone? Isn't there anyone else who did some work for deep cave who might still have important code? How much hours of work did you loose, and what kind of accident did destroy that work?

After reading this I immediately went out and bought a flash drive so I can have off-site backups. I think I'd go insane if I lost 18 months of work. Maybe that's why we've not heard anything else from Mystic Unicorn.

I like the "floating" dog head as a picture... despite my usual animosity towards dogs.

It's my puppy. Called Holly. From Red Dwarf. Hence the floating head.
