Re: Freedungeon

I got some questions in a PM, and I guess it would be good to have those answers to also here:

Since I haven't done much at all yet, the artistic direction is very much up for debate, and the people helping out this early of course has a lot to say and can help out forming the direction. Actually ...

Re: Freedungeon

Your thoughts are noted. I still think that people can get together and help out in a project like this (it works just fine when it comes to software - see the whole free software movement, why not the same in artwork?)

And then there's the community aspect - If the artwork is licensed properly it ...

Re: Freedungeon

Hi gusnan, there are some free clones around here, but that's always nice to see someone starting such project.
I appreciate that you did get appropriate side walls regarding the brick sizes.

Please note that the graphics are only place-holders.

Is this coded in Lua as base language ?

Freedungeon

I have seen quite some talk here on these forums about some of you wanting a
free Dungeon Master clone - so I want to try take make one (and I have wanted
this for quite some time, but have had a long pause from it).

But I have now started on freedungeon - I will release the source under
GPL3, and ...

Re: Deep Cave

A1: Honestly i do not believe that onyone would like to make that project opensourced. Maybe im wrong....

Yeah, there's always my "DotG" that is opensourced ;), but unfortunately I don't know many other projects that are.. Anyway - Great to see that there are some projects in development ...

Where are you heading regarding license's on DSB? Multiplatform? I would surely like to take a look at the source (the non-LUA one..) :)

After I have re-started coding on DotG I am only letting GPL (or similar) stuff in (using other stuff until all replaced) - Hence the call for contributions here ...

I've noticed that you're also using Allegro for graphics. Handy, isn't it?

Absolutely!

One thing I'm curious about, though, if you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism

Absolutey no problem :)

Oh, wasn't aware of that clone actually, thanks! Looks like really nice stuff! Will definately take a closer look!

The target of DotG has shifted a bit though towards making everything opensource so that I can release it under an completely open license - hence the reason to replace (most if not ...

Oh, this isn't a Java project, all code is in C++ and LUA. I did just use the graphics from the DMJava one, with a totally own codebase (and am working on replacing the graphics too.) Check out the homepage for the source.

DotG looking for contributors

You might remember this clone Damnation of the Gods that I managed to release some stuff with quite some time ago. After a long break from it I have started working on it again. Previously I used the graphics from the Dungeon Master Java project, but now I would like to get graphics for this project ...

Well, i don´t know what version you downloaded back then, but here are some of the changes:

- memory usage greatly decreased.

- items fully configurable through the scripts

- major cleanups of the source

- removed the usage of allegro dat-system for graphics - will make it easier to customize ...

Anyways - on to the good stuff:
I have made sourceforge permanent host of the webpage. Official DotG page is now: http://dotg.sourceforge.net . There shouldnt be any more changes on that part. Note that ...

perhaps I should answer here too... (There are obviously two threads regarding my clone). I havn't been able to do any coding on my project for quite some time, but now I finally have made the decision to make the source availible. We will see where this goes in the future, but all you people are ...

Now you can download the source from
http://home.vxu.se/arodm01/game
(the download section).

You will need Visual C or MingW as compiler, and the Allegro Library to link with.

Sorry I havn't replied earlier, havn't browsed these forums in a while.

I am sorry to say I havn't been coding on Damnation of the Gods for quite some time, but perhaps I can have the time to get something done soon.

I am actually considering releasing the source so people can make their own ...

Damnation of the Gods - New Dungeon Master Clone

Well, I thought I should put some info on my Dungeon Master clone here. Well... its sorta a Dungeon Master clone, but with lots of extra features.. :) (Hope you have room for one more... )

Not anyway near to be finished, but I develop some things a little by little.

Well, enough smalltalk ...
