I'll sort something out :) Doesn't seem too far fetched to at least ask George to add a variable to tell me if a dungeon has been won before - this information must be available because I can have different end text come up at the, um, end depending on whether this is the first or second time the du...

Hmm, guess I'll have to work around it then as you suggest. I really want to do this. My dungeon has something like 20 levels and I have a system in place which provides replay value by making various areas of the dungeon available depending on which options are made in play. However, I think the re...

Can I import objects with champions?
Is it possible to have objects carried by champions imported to a new game when imported? I want to leave an item at the end of the game so that someone can pick it up and then save before finishing. Then, if they import the saved champions into the same dungeon for a second play, the object lets th...

I take it you aren't using any sort of download accelerator then? I use GetRight for everything, always have since they invented it! Never had any problems with it - if the download stops it just reconnects and carries on where it left off. I thought most people used one of these these days lol :) I...

experience increases
I want to create a potion which, when drunk, increases a characters fighter experience. I've cloned a VI potion and used the CONVERT_CONSUME tab to specify the action ACTION_GAIN_EXPERIENCE_FIGHTER. But how do I tell it how many experience points to give, or how many levels to increase, etc. I assum...

DM2
DM2 never struck me as that big. After you finish the outside bit, which I always thought of as the "intro" to get into the tower, which I thought of as "the dungeon", there didn't seem much else. Unless my recollection is wrong, the levels of the tower were quite small and there...

How do potions in shops know how strong they are?
When I put a VI potion, for example, for sale in a shop using the SHOP_STOCK wallitem, how strong is the potion that gets sold? Is it LO, MON or what?

What I really wanted with the percentage thing was to make sure that the player could only generate perhaps 2 coins before dying or having to rest. But with an absolute value they will be able to generate more coins as they get stronger, which defeats the logic of my duneon mechanics. If a level onl...

It's working ok, but I'm getting an odd amount of damage. I have the strength of the action set to 50, and was therefore expecting to get 50 damage every time. In fact, I get 18 or 19 damage every time no matter what level of spell I cast. So how does 50 relate to 19? I'm using a test character with...

Spells with fixed damage
How can I create a spell which does two things: 1) Do a FIXED amount of damage to the party, in percent. IE: damage health by 50% 2) Create an item. I want a spell called "purse of pain" which creates a coin in hand but also damages the party for 50% health so they will only use it as a la...

It works now!
It does work, now that I look closer. I was assuming that 100 light would cause the whole room to light up brightly as though a full torch was being held. In fact, with the light set to 100 it just creates strong light when you're standing on the square and a tiny bit of light when you aren't. In fa...

Can't get light floor objects to work
How do "light" floor objects work? In my dungeon, I have a level which has a base light level of zero (IE: totally black). On the wall of this level, I place a DM2 lantern. On the floor directly in front of the wall, I place a "light" floor object with it's light set to 100. This...

That's true. I think I've kept the balance, I filled up 20 levels with all the puzzles and fighting areas I could think of, so I don't want to start adding new things and make it even bigger or I'll have nothing for the sequel. Most of the stuff in my dungeon is quite complex, hence my desperately t...

Can you qualify that Gambit? I'd want a game that was as big as possible - given the fact that everyone here loves DM and when they finish playing one dungeon they can't wait to play the next one, what is the difference between that and just carrying on getting further into the one your playing? In ...

I don't know why I bother. It's obvious that nobody wants the editor to be useful or usable to anyone without advanced knowledge, so people like me who don't want to edit a text file will obviously have to take a long time to get a dungeon finished and you'll all have to wait longer for it. You do r...

I use CuteHTML which I use for my websites, just turn off the syntax highlighting and make use of the linenumbers :) I didn't think I was asking for anything that complex, to be honest. I don't really see how it matters what subtypes or whatever are being replaced - at the end of the day you are sim...

No beo, a find and replace in the editor would be simple. It would just offer up the normal dialog for adding an item to a square. But instead of adding the item to a square it would replace existing objects with the new object. If the user wants to change all of his antmen with 100 hit points so th...

I'm afraid I can't agree with you on this one Beowuuf - I'm a programmer and I always work on the principle that if someone wants it, I'll provide it. If one person out of all my users asks for a feature, and it's a simple job or I've got the time, I'll add it just so one person is happy and I'll fe...

Also, of course, the find and replace might need to be done several times in notepad. You might be changing an object for exactly the same object simply in order to change various stats about all of the objects of that type in the dungeon. In the editor, this would be a case of simply refilling out ...

Find/Replace
Now that we have an (excellent) find feature in the editor, how about adding a replace to it? IE: Replace all the Antmen in the dungeon with Couatls? You would simply present a standard "Add Item" dialog and then go through and delete and replace all items of a particular type with the new...
