Go test it out. Make simple dungeons and let me know what you think about it. But please don't get too enthousiastic in dungeon-making. As it's an Alpha version it might be that your dungeon won't work in a future version. Although I will do my best to keep it compatible.
It's been awhile for me... wasn't it like.. Ku = strength Ros = dexterity Dain = wisdom Neta = intelligence ...or something like that?
I believe I always did Ros first. I really liked what they did with the blinking teleports, and I quite enjoyed crashing those cursed knighs into a pit. Ku was ...
At least you could solve/clear out an area and it stayed that way
I think that that is indeed the thing that separates good games from bad games. I believe there are whole philisophical discussions about why that thing makes games great, from the human characteristic of cleaning compulsion to the ...
Interesting stuff guys. About monsters, it would be nice that monsters are becoming the real challenge on a later stage in a game. Like in World of Warcraft, the most fun thing there is in this game is trying to break the code of a boss. In this way, the monster is the puzzle that u gotta solve ...
Ok thanks, I will look into this game.
You might wanna know why I am so curious. It's because of my new game Dungeon Maker. I'm gathering info at the moment for adding more good features to the editor and the game.
Ameena wrote:I like good puzzles that are satisfying to solve...like those in Soph's "Dark Portal" dungeon (err...thik it was called that anyway...was about a year ago I played it ).
What kind of puzzles in particular? In detail, how do they work in that dark portal dungeon?
I'm just curious, what would make a dungeon game complete? What kind of features should definitely be in a game that you like to play? For example, I'm personally very fond of the many scripts that are triggered in Eye of the Beholder 2 where you gotta choose between two or more options to choose ...
lol when my dad and I were playing I would always be scared of the flying wasps 8) . I could never make it past lvl 3 when I was 5.
Lol.. I had something similar with the worms invasion in level 2. :) My dad stopped playing, I decided to stop with DM and resume CSB. Then I noticed the fatass ...
I have a somewhat similar story as MDNW. I am also 30 years old now, and was totally into dungeon crawlers in the late 80ies. First Bloodwych, DM and CSB... later Eye of the Beholder. I was so thrilled about this whole concept of RPG, I was attempting to program my own RPG dungeon crawler game on my ...
At least add the major milestones to the project here in this thread though:?:
The milestones are as followed: - Improve editor's user interface (70% done). - Add more options to customize items, monsters, spell lists, game interface and other features to the editor (the really big challenge ...
Some of the features are... - It automatically shows the object in 3D, that is under your mouse pointer. - It shows an indicator that points to the north. - In edit mode you can left-click on the 3D image frame to enlarge it to the dungeon frame. - When ...
that looks neat and very intuitive : i would have loved making such editor when i tried to make my own B3D clone.. but my expectations about your clone are mostly about the 3D engine and especially its optimization.
Thank you :) There are still some headaching bumps on the road to an optimal ...
The editor got an overhaul. - The editor window is larger. - The dungeon map is larger. - At the right, you will now have an overview of all objects on the current location (RTC editor style).
More to come for the editor. - More info about the objects on right ...
For the very curious people, I'm developing in a test folder, and will update it every now and then until it's finished.
You can find that here: http://www.dungeon-maker.com/x/index.php
At the moment we are looking for: - Graphical Designers. Can you make perfect walls, doors, items, monsters, interfaces? Let me know what you can make. At the moment we a having a lot of not-so-legal, ripped images from other games, and I want to get rid of them. - 3D ...
I just wanted to say that Dungeon Maker took a small hibernation these last years, but I am happy to slowly start to make some progress in the game. Not too fast though, cause I'm sorry to say I am still enjoy playing World of Warcraft. But I will do my very best to find time to work on ...
I think, as I am the creator of this game and the interest of people is getting bigger and bigger, it is my duty to give you a news update about what is possible, what i am doing right now, and what will be done for the next update. Of course, MadMunky did a good thing to publish some ...
I have the same problems sometimes, I will try to work on that.
Mystic_Unicorn wrote:Wishbone, i tried your dungeon is very good but sometimes i have buig problems with fps...but only sometimes....it jumped from 70 and more to 2-3 frames.
There is an extra file included, that runs the game in 640x480x16, called dungeonlow.bat. That might help a bit.
PicturesInTheDark wrote:I know I already promised once to look into it, but my PC at home is old and slow. Will try it anyway, thanks for posting the update information!
Just to make some things clear: this poll was created by a disagreement of MadMunky and I about my own game (for those who don't know it, it's called Dungeon Maker and can be downloaded at: http://home.deds.nl/~wishbone/index.html ), but what should be the best way of casting spells. Now, all spells ...
The new Dungeon Maker version 3.0327 is out! (if anyone is still interested).
For the ones who are interested, here is the website: http://home.deds.nl/~wishbone/index.html
Think it's better to have spells being cast from the side: 1: For example in Dungeon Master, monsters can walk at the sides, and logically then, spells can be cast at the sides too. 2: Spells are just like throwning items, which are also thrown at the sides. 3: Launchers would be better when they ...
Started with a simple 2 player game only with walls, stairs and some trigger buttons. Added an editor. Decided to make it for 1 player to make it easier to use the mouse and pickup and use things. Made monsters, more abilities for items and monsters, more link ...
