Re: Poll of difficulty

Anyone who actually finishes CSB without assistance deserves a great round of applause. I doubted it was possible. CERTAINLY DESERVES! in fact I did not manage to get further than the vexirk crossfire without hint oracle! (i selected KU first) Well...deep breath... I am proud to say that I actually...

Just a quick question. If you had shields in both hands, would that give better protection? It would theoretically block almost everything.

Alternate ending

The engine forces you to collect EVERY item in the game and put it in a single room. You must also kill EVERY monster. So you have to arrange that no monsters are generated after you kill the last one. But talk about seeing the entire dungeon.....this does it. There is one way that you can proceed ...

I seriously doubt your optimism andy. 90% of today's gamers have never heard of a game called Dungeon Master, and those who would actually bother to look it up would probably laugh at the simplicity and ugly graphics of the original DM, thus not being interested in a new game. Furthermore, I don't ...

Even if the video is a hoax (the non olde-worlde title "Chaos Theory" is a bit of a giveaway), wouldn't it be amazing if someone actually realised the game's potential and went and produced that game for the PS3/X-Box/PC? Remember when folks went out and purchased Atari ST's just to play D...

Gotta be the 85-90 period with the rise of the 16-bit machines. Oddly, though, for a slightly different reason in my case. It was then that for me gaming became a more social thing. After seeing (my then hi-tech!) Atari ST & dedicated monitor set-up, many of my friends got into the gaming thing,...

Thanks for replying, Beowuff. I didn't have Winrar, but I have now! But only the 40 day limited version. I do have Winzip if that works for whatever you're going to tell me! Anyway, Winrar installed. What now?!

Therons Quest/Conflux III

Hi folks. After finishing CSB on RTC over 15 years after playing it in the Atari ST, I am finding myself drawn toward further slaughter. I am wishing to play a couple of the other custom dungeons, i.e. Conflux III and/or Theron's Quest. I have tried to get Theron's Quest for RTC, but my PC says it i...

Back in 1988 (when I was a lad), I started playing DM for the very first time on the Atari ST, and quickly got absorbed onto the entire experience. However, I had to pack in playing the thing for a month, halfway through encountering the area where there are ghosts and fireballs (I called it Firebal...

Thanks Beowuuf. I changed to a different mail address (for all forums, as well), as my normal one seemed to be getting spammed with "people saying hello" soon after I registered with the DM forums. Just a precaution I guess. I've no doubt the DM forums is very well looked after by the vari...

Thanks, Paul. I have checked with the encyclopedia walkthrough of the Ku and Ros ways, and I haven't missed much (if anything). It just seems a bit odd that seemingly "valuable" keys like the Onyx and Sapphire ones are left unused on those paths, including on their respective DDD's!

Too many keys ?!

Greetings. I have just started playing CSB on my PC (courtesy of RTC) 17 years after first completing it on the Atari ST. I have just completed the KU and ROS paths (got both corbums, but saving them until the end) and I am a tad concerned. I have 15 keys unused! They are: 2 ONYX 2 GOLD 1 SAPPHIRE 3...

What is the "alternate ending" in CSBwin? I know of the alternate ending in the original DM by going back to the beginning with the firestaff. Then getting toasted. :?:

Many thanks for all the pointers, everyone. I never did actually visit every place in CSB. The way the game works at the start of each path doesn't help, but I am determined to sniff around every single corner of the dungeon, as I still remember there were places/doors I never crossed. Just wonderin...

Thanks, Adamo. I have already started the CSB game again. I got it from Return To Chaos. Just got all the food and weapons from "Supplies for the Quick". Now I just need to chose my path. Think I'll go for Ku first. I remember that was the first path I took all that time ago, so here we go...

No offence taken, Trantor! I just think that, as you mention, the games should be judged on their innovation, impact and gameplay at their time of release and subsequent play. I suppose I am from a different era of gaming, all the way from starting with the humble Sinclair Spectrum to (briefly) the ...

Top 100 games poll

This is a tad concerning. I have just read that The Edge magazine is to list the top 100 games of all time, according to a load of "people" in the industry. I don't know the full list, but here is the "Top 10": 1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina 2. Resident Evil 4 3. Super Mario 64 4. H...

Dungeon Master Encyclopedia

Greetings. Is anyone having trouble getting on to the "Dungeon Master Encyclopedia" website? When I try to access, all I get now is that I am forbidden from access on Port 80 or similar. Even trying to get there via the links on this forum I get the same message. I have just got hold of Ch...
