Now, what you want to do is build the CSB dungeon out of balsa wood... ;)

My god. I think I took 20-odd hours to complete the game last time I tried.

Re: CSB4WIN++ :)

The thing is, that particular door was set to be breakable via melee attacks, not fireballs. So why set the door to be breakable like that , and then set the damage for that door to something you can't attain? :) As for adding to bytes - I think I'm actually halving the damage needed, rather than do...

Re: Lev 12 - what now?

I think it was late. I'll go back to my saved game and double check. The armour of Darc/Lyte is a swizz, anyway, there's no bonus (that I know of) for a complete set :(

Re: Source code

re: ninja levels. The weight of the object seems to make NO difference. Different classes of object give different XP levels. Run CSBWin++ with XP tracking on, you'll see! The BEST method for ninja levels that I've found, is using the ninja rope... that can get you 500 XP a use (even with no pit the...

Re: uhm..

Well, you COULD have random maps... but they'd be just that, random, with dead ends, no riddles (except human designed ones), etc... the only real use for these would be levelling up... I say human desgiend dungrons all the way!

Re: Spells and Portability

Excellent. I only got RTC recently, with the spellbook in it, and I thought 'what a bloody good idea' Now I see where it came from. It made the game *far* more challenging (when I first got DM, it was second hand, with no manual, so I had to guess the spell combos.. :) - no fireballs until the Tomb ...

Re: CSB4WIN++ :)

If you turn on Door Info and hit a door, it tells you how much damage you need to do to a door to get it to break. A good example here is the entrance door to the Executioner room - that door needs 110 points of damage to break it down. I boosted my character up to about 160 strength using potions, ...

Re: Lev 12 - what now?

Odd. I couldn't get the Darc armour door to open in RTC... I pressed the large button theother side of the invisible pits, but it stuck in, and the door didn't open... it was a bug with RTC...?

I could't figure out how to make the menus check, as I said... (if anyone can tell me, I'll fix it easily enough!) I've updated the false walls routine, I think it's working better now :) (I'll prolly upload it this weekend) Luck... if you turn that on, then look at your character's stats, you'll se...

Re: CSB4WIN++ :)

RE: XP... there does seem to be some very odd code going on here: Firstly, if (something) hasn't happened for 25 (seconds?), we get twice the normal XP: if (d.Long12950 > d.Time-25) { D7W *= 2; }; Secondly, all the experience *does* seem to be added twice: psA3->Experience += (UI16)(D7W);//store the...

Re: CSB4WIN++ :)

It IS a false wall, int that it's possible to go through that wall... sometimes you have to remove the wall first, tho. It'd better so say 'removable wall', I guess.... I'm just checking the falsewall flags, not the passable flags. *mumbles and goes and sees about changing it* As for checking the me...

Re: CSB4WIN++ :)

Ooops. Update version now up there.

You can now turn on and off the party position (level is corret, but the XY coords don't seem to match up), and also get the game to tell you if there's any false walls nearby (very handy if you don't want to stare at a map the whole time :)

CSB4WIN++ :)

I've just finished the first release of CSB4WIN++ - essentially it's CSB4WIN, with it's guts opened out a little... Here's a list of what you can turn on: Door Info - shows you if you can damage a door, and what method is needed. Easy Doors - doubles the amount of damage you do to doors (one door in...

H167 - ZYTAZ ZONE

Now this is interesting... (?) H167 - ZYTAZ ZONE Be careful where the party steps in this area, the Zytazes are easily alerted. Certain objects may help to prevent Zytazes from multiplying. One of the objects is the Crown of Nerra. The other object is the Pendant Feral. Now, looking through the code...

The main things about the Amiga version that differed, is that it doesn't change the palette twice per vertical retrace... (look at what the mouse cursor does as you move it around.. and the Amiga had a flesh coloured (well, brown) hand, too) I'm looking into changing that (I'd like to have each cha...

Re: about these forums

I've hacked a few extra things into CSB, so I can get a better idea of how he experience, levels, etc, work.. and I've noticd that some the luck statistic varies wildly from character... Webber (the spider) has a low low, of about 29-odd... where as Buzz has 65ish luck... quite a difference :)

As for the Gem of Ages doubling the light time.. are you sure? I can't find anything in the torch or magic light code that might do this... A few updates... (from playing with the CSB source code) You don't get experience for ramming yourself into a wall. Or falling down pits. As for ninja attacks... you get twice as many XP for punching a monster as for punching the air (tested on worms, 4 for the air, 8 for a worm :) Throwing food, ch...

Sound fix in CSB4Win

Just got this, and started looking through the code... I noticed the sound was playing at the wrong speed... changing these two lines of code WavBuf->nSamplesPerSecond = 7000; WavBuf->nAvgBytesPerSec = 7000 to this WavBuf->nSamplesPerSecond = 5000; WavBuf->nAvgBytesPerSec = 5000 fixed it tho... As a...
