Re: Retro Gaming

Crusaders of the Dark Savant I tried that on several occasions. Wow! I have the clue book (179 pages!) and I still failed. That thing is big and complicated. Wow! again!. Lol same here. I even got some FAQs in 1998, about 2 MB written in text (!!), cant remember how many hundred pages there were. A...

Being a totally lazy guy, the thing I hated most about ranged weapons were to pick up them and put them back into inventory, again and again :)

Re: Poll of difficulty

I have a feeling we may have done (me and my dad), since there was, of course, no Internet back then, and we didn't have any kind of guide book. I can't think of any other way we might have got help, therefore, since none of us knew anyone else who played it (and apart from on here, I still don't, ...

Re: Not Just Nostalgia!

I had an AMIGA too and I bought a version of Dungeon Master which contained the 1 MB RAM extension. I know it like I bought it just yesterday. :P I never saw the 1MB version of Dungeon Master, actually I am glad in case it ruined the enjoyment of playing on my ST! That happened when I played Populo...

Re: Not Just Nostalgia!

I was very excited to find the DM forum, and knew I would definitely play the games again. But I have to admit a part of me was a little bit worried. I thought "maybe I start playing, am bowled over by nostalgia, but then after a few levels that wears off, and I abandon my game and find someth...

Ohhhhhh that hurts. Damn man, I do feel sorry for you :( That good, eh? Maybe I should look into them sometime. I don't know how I missed them, I had 30+ FF books, plus Dungeoneer and those background books. Shame though, even if I got them now it would not be the same as reading them when I was yo...

Re: Common experiences

My buddies used to play on a hacked version of DM. Which killed our whole party midway through the 2nd level. Of course the first times we didnt really know what happened. Thought it was some in game thing we did wrong. So we ended up not eating any screamers part for several weeks because one of us...

Re: Closing an educational gap - Ian Livingstone et al.

A couple of thoughts about some gamebooks: - Fighting Fantasy : since zillions of them were published, you'll more than likely read one of those. They do share the same set of rules, and in few cases the same fantasy setting (the world of Titan), but that's about it. There are Sci-Fi books, horror bo...

Well, I 100 % agree with you Gira Dark Corners is really terrific. It is a must have for any Cthulhu fan, and for any horror-action game fan as well. Re: Retro Gaming

Yup Linfl there was indeed a gap in gameplay and difficulty between the Amiga and Atari version (not to mention graphism and sound :D). From memory, the joystick action scenes were easier on Atari. That was the only flaw of many Cinemaware Amiga games imho: you would prolly break zillions of Speedki...

Took us weeks to finish the game. - The Last Ninja (C64): my cousins in Bordeau...

Re: H.P Lovecraft

I'm a big fan of HPL, but my first contact with the Cthulhu Mythos was through Chaosium RPG Call of Cthulhu . Thats why my favourite stories are those linked with the Role Playing Game (Beyond the Mountains of Madness, Escape from Innsmouth and of course the Call of Cthulhu). But to be honest I know...
